Cynthiana is located 60 miles south of Cincinnati and 28 miles northeast of Lexington along the banks of the southern fork of the Licking River. Cynthiana is the county seat of Harrison County and has approximately 6200 residents. Cynthiana features a number of tree-lined streets with Cape Cod houses and mid-century brick homes.
Cynthiana has a rich agricultural history. One of the state’s top producers of tobacco since the 19th century, Cynthiana farms still produce tobacco, hay, corn and beef cattle. Cynthiana is also home to large manufacturing companies such as 3M and E.D. Bullard Co.
US Routes 27 and 62, as well as KY-36 are the main thruways in and out of Cynthiana. Lexington and Georgetown, Kentucky are short drives west on US-62.
Cynthiana is served by Harrison Memorial Hospital and Cynthiana Fire and Police Departments.
Cynthiana offers a variety of shops, boutiques and restaurants along Main and Pike Streets as well as larger retailers on Paris Pike.
Cynthiana offers four parks for all sorts of recreational activities. The largest and newest of the parks, Flat Run Veterans Parks, sits on 120 acres and offers walking trails, picnic shelters and playing fields.
