SRWW Fire District serves the villages needs. The nearest hospitals are Fayette County Memorial Hospital in Washington Courthouse, Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, or Greenfield Area Medical Center in Greenfield providing emergency, obstetrics and both inpatient and outpatient care.

Sabina is one of the key destinations in the county’s Rails to Trails bike trail that connects Clinton’s residents with the area’s rich outdoor opportunities. Residents enjoy celebrating “Sabina Heritage Day” in Richland Township Park each summer.  And frequently folks gather at the historic 50’s diner in town to try out the daily specials and ‘sit a spell’.

Life’s necessities can be found, but a more in-depth shopping experience can be found in nearby Wilmington or Washington Courthouse.

Located 11 miles northeast of Wilmington, the village of Sabina is a small town smack in the middle of America’s food belt. The majority of the village’s population of 2800 is involved in the agricultural industries, especially grain farming. Residents like to tout the town as “the” destination in the county by nicknaming the town the ”Eden of Ohio”. Sabina boasts one of the regions finest historical museums with a collection of regional historic items.

About an hour north of Cincinnati, Sabina’s primary transportation routes are St. Rts. 3, 72 and 729. Nearby commuter airports include Hollister Field in Wilmington, and Bloom Field in Jamestown; Greater Cincinnati International Airport is about 75 minutes away.

Wilmington Fire Department provides fire and EMS coverage for the city and surrounding areas. Clinton Memorial Hospital offers a full range of medical services, including emergency, cardiology, acute care, oncology, rehabilitation services, home care and even a sleep lab. Long-term care facilities, community mental health services and public health services in the area serve the county as well.

Numerous events take place throughout the year here, including Quaker Heritage Days and Christmas in Downtown Wilmington.  When not enjoying the numerous activities in Wilmington’s busy social scene, residents can enjoy golf at one of the many nearby courses. Outdoor enthusiasts have a lot of choices from the city’s numerous horse competitions to hiking and biking. Wilmington’s section of the county’s 29 miles of bike/hike trails is officially named "The Luther E. Warren Peace Path". Nearby state parks Caesars Creek, and Cowan Lake lure boaters and fisherman alike. Cherry Bend Pheasant Farm, just outside Wilmington is the premier pheasant hunting preserve in southwest Ohio. Add in some regional festivals such as the Clinton County Fair held annually each July, the Banana Split Festival each June, and the Corn Festival every September and you’ll see why so many have chosen to call Wilmington home.

Wilmington is the shopping Mecca of the county offering four shopping centers equipped with numerous grocery, retail and specialty stores, in addition to those located downtown. Shops at the Mill feature numerous antique dealers under one roof, perfect for those on the lookout for crafts and collectibles.

The “Heart of Clinton County”, Wilmington has a population of more than 12,400 and acts as the region’s civic, cultural and entertainment destination. Rate one of America’s “100 Best Small Towns”, it’s easy to see why Wilmington also carries the nickname – “The Most Livable Neighborhood” from a 1995 Cincinnati Magazine competition. The magazine declared Wilmington the best for its friendliness, education, shopping and many more attributes.  It’s home as well to the regional office of the National Weather Service that oversees forecasts for Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Because of the classical designs of its downtown, parts of the movie ”Lost in Yonkers” was shot here in 1992. Both newly built housing and turn of the century homes abound in Wilmington.

Wilmington

Situated at the center of Clinton County, Wilmington sits at the crossroads of St. Rts. 68 and 22, and Ohio Rts. 73,134 and 730 making it easy to reach from just about anywhere in the county. About an hour drive from Cincinnati along I71, Wilmington sits 15 minutes off the interstate.

The Greene County Memorial Hospital is located in Xenia. Greene County Memorial is a 210 bed general, not for profit hospital.

Xenia is well known for its summer performances of the outdoor drama Blue Jacket. Blue Jacket is the story of the Shawnee Indians' struggle for peace in 18th century Ohio. Shawnee Park is the site of concerts, picnics, festivals, quiet walks, even fishing. For golf enthusiasts, there are two public courses in Xenia, Sebastian Hills Golf Club and WGC Golf Course. Sugar Valley Country Club is also located in Xenia. Popular biking and hiking trails through Xenia include the recently completed 10-mile portion of the North Country National Scenic Trail between Xenia and Yellow Springs. The Little Miami Scenic Trail takes you by the Spring Valley wildlife area, one of the best bird watching spots in Ohio. Xenia was named 'Trail Town USA' by the American Hiking Association.

Strip malls, fast food restaurants and new shops are springing up all over the city. Located ten minutes away from Xenia, the Mall at Fairfield Commons contains five department stores and 130 franchise clothing, shoe and specialty stores. Local merchants provide general merchandise and services conveniently located for residents.

With a population over 25,000, Xenia is located approximately 30 minutes east of downtown Dayton. Xenia is a friendly town, and known for its hospitality. It's a tenacious community finding strength in adversity. A tornado April 3, 1974 killed 33, destroyed almost half of the city's buildings and made 10,000 homeless. Nine schools, nine churches and 180 businesses perished but the city still had the courage to bounce back and make Xenia what it is today. Housing in Xenia ranges from quiet subdivisions with tree-lined streets, newer developments, restored historic communities, expansive farms, and luxury homes. Prices cover a wide range from first time homebuyers to large luxury homes with acreage. Whether you are looking for a quiet place in the county or want to be in the hub of downtown life, Xenia is the place for you.

Xenia

Xenia, Ohio is centrally located in the 'transportation triangle' formed by three major interstate highways I-70, I-71, and I-75. These north-south, east-west arteries are within minutes of Xenia via U.S. 35, U.S. 42, and U.S. 68, tying the community to one of the nation's largest 90-minute highway markets.

Architectural buffs will enjoy the Port William Road pony truss bridge over Anderson Fork on Port William Road. Genealogists, including those researching Quaker heritage, will find the nearby cemeteries useful to update genealogic files. Most residents, though, find Caesar Creek State Park the major focus of recreation in the area, with its boating, hiking, camping and fishing the lure for many.

History is important in Port William, just as in many small villages and towns across America. The Port William Union Civil War Soldier Memorial tucked into a corner downtown, honors Gilbert VanZandt of Port William. He was 10 years old when he went to war as a drummer with his father during the Civil War. “Little Gib” eventually ended up with General Sherman on his march to the sea at the end of the Civil War. Today, a painted mural commemorating that event graces an old mill just outside of town.  You can often see hawks lazing over one of the many small farms that call Port William home.
