It is the region’s only adult Blood & Marrow Transplant Center. Bethesda North Hospital, a Level III Trauma Center, is located in Montgomery and is a 15-minute drive away. 

Seven of Cincinnati’s finest hospitals are within a 10-minute drive and include: Good Samaritan Hospital, University Hospital, Children’s Hospital Medical Center and The Christ Hospital. Many uptown groups of doctor’s offices are also within easy access.

Hyde Park and Mt. Lookout are two neighboring suburbs that blend together almost seamlessly to form one of Cincinnati’s oldest areas. Hyde Park was established in 1892 by Cincinnati businessmen who wanted an exclusive community for the wealthy and named it after New York’s Hyde Park. The area was annexed by the City of Cincinnati in 1903. Mt. Lookout is located adjacent to Hyde Park and was named for the Mount Lookout Observatory which was moved to this neighborhood in 1873.

The area’s largest teaching hospital, the University Hospital, is 10 minutes away. Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Good Samaritan and The Christ Hospital are all located within a 10-12 minute drive.

Oakley was originally known as “Four Mile” and was a wagon stop in the 1850s on the Madison Turnpike now called Madison Road. The village of Oakley (named for the many oak trees in the area) was established in 1898 and then incorporated as part of Cincinnati in 1913.

Oakley Park Recreational Center features picnic and play areas with tennis courts as well as an aquatic area including a swimming pool, slide, diving board and splash pad. Baseball fields are also available. 

Two of Cincinnati’s largest and most beautiful parks, Ault Park and Alms Park, are nearby. 

Lunken Playfield (public) offers tennis, archery, golf, and baseball with a 10-minute drive.

Charming Oakley Square has quite a few local restaurants, pubs and boutiques including the iconic Aglamesis Ice Cream Parlor. King Arthurs Court Toys and Blue Manatee Literacy Project are popular destinations for those with young ones. Habit’s Cafe, The Sleepy Bee Cafe and Red Feather Kitchen are just a few examples of where to have a meal. The Twentieth Century Theatre which was built in 1941 is a registered historic building and the site for concerts and private events. The square is the site for several community events including Oakley After Hours. 

Kroger Marketplace (the second largest in the world), Target, Meijer, and other national brand stores are conveniently located in Oakley Station at the former site of The Cincinnati Milling Machine Company. This village-like area, has newly built apartments that are a stone’s throw from restaurants and stores. 

MadTree Brewing has its facilities on Madison Road and is a very popular place to enjoy a crafted brew in its tap room or beer garden. 

Hyde Park Plaza offers two major grocery stores and many specialty shops. Nearby is the Rookwood Pavilion and Rookwood Commons with many national brand stores and restaurants. Kenwood Towne Centre and Sycamore Plaza are approximately a 10-minute drive with many more shopping and dining opportunities.

Oakley is seen as a more-affordable neighborhood with ever increasing property values as compared to nearby Hyde Park and Mt. Lookout. The many oak-lined streets and shopping within walking distance offer much to the people who live in Oakley. Convenience is highly regarded here with downtown only 12 minutes away. Oakley is a neighborly area surrounded by many prestigious neighborhoods, which have contributed to its growth. Oakley is now one of Cincinnati’s most popular areas with young professionals. One finds older homes (many renovated to keep up with today’s living demands) as well as new condominiums and apartments in this area.

I-71 and the Norwood lateral are easily accessed from Oakley. It is a 12-minute drive to the University of Cincinnati. Queen City Metro buses serve the area on a regular schedule with a ride time of approximately 15 minutes to downtown.

Pleasant Ridge Community Center has a fitness room, gym, swimming, tennis, nature study and other recreational programs supervised by the Cincinnati Recreation Department. Nearby Losantiville Country Club is private and features an 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts and a club house with dining options. Avon Fields, 10-minutes away, is a public, 18-hole course. Kenwood Country Club, which is private, has two 18-hole golf courses and is about 10-minutes away. 

Pleasant Ridge Park is a kid’s dream! Play on the “castle”, with all of its cubby holes and climbing structures. This park has baseball and soccer fields and tennis courts. The outdoor deep-water pool and wading pool keep residents cool and refreshed during summer. Nearby in Amberley Village is French Park with many picnic areas as well as trails to enjoy and explore.

Along Montgomery Road are many shops and cafes to enjoy. The Loving Hut features Asian-style, vegan meals. Nine Giant Brewing is a local brewery and pub.The Coffee Exchange takes care of your caffeine needs and is a wonderful place to relax and read from their many books housed there. Everybody’s Records is the place for LP or DVD searches and has been serving music lovers for decades. These are just a few of many local stores and restaurants to patronize. We could go on and on: Pleasant Ridge Chili, Queen City Comics... 

Pleasant Ridge is within 10 minutes of Kenwood Towne Centre with three large department stores and about 100 smaller shops and restaurants. Sycamore Square in Kenwood has even more national branded stores.

Today’s Pleasant Ridge, however, is a community of block parties, neighborhood clubs, and citizens involved in various activities. Home buyers can find an assortment of Tudors to choose from. Many of the wide, winding streets have spacious old frame houses almost hidden by the ancient trees that surround them. Other areas offer comfortable homes of unpretentious beauty; still others have newer brick houses. Pleasant Ridge is rich in heritage and moderately-priced homes that attract first-time buyers. The charm of Pleasant Ridge is always present  with its gas-lit streets.

Pleasant Ridge

The main street in Pleasant Ridge – Montgomery Road – leads to the Ronald Reagan Highway, I-71, I-75 and I-275 expressways. Driving time to downtown Cincinnati is about 10 minutes. Queen City Metro buses serve Pleasant Ridge at about 15-minute intervals.

The following hospitals are located within a 15-minute drove of Tusculum: University of Cincinnati Hospital, The Christ Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital and the Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Schmidt Memorial Playfield, Turkey Ridge Playfield and Alms Park are located in Tusculum and offer a variety of activities. California Golf Course/Nature Preserve are located nearby. Marinas along the Ohio River provide excellent facilities for boating enthusiasts. Also nearby is Lunken Playfield which offers tennis, archery, golf and baseball. The Lunken Airport serves private planes. 

The Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati presents programs such as musicals, dance, plays produced by the Irish American Theater Company. 

The Carnegie Center of Columbia-Tusculum is a non-profit  community center where residents gather for meetings and cultural events.

There are quite a few interesting local small shops and restaurants located along Eastern Avenue and Riverside Drive (SR52). The Precinct (an iconic local steak house is located in a former police station) and is a popular place to have a fine-dining experience. Approximately 10 minutes to the north is Hyde Park Plaza, Rookwood Commons and Rookwood Pavilion which serve all convenience needs. Fifteen minutes to the east is Anderson Towne Center which offers a wide selection of shops and services.

The restoration in Columbia-Tusculum is preserving the distinctive historical character of the area. There's an abundance of old frame homes with high ceilings, wood floors, and many decorative elements like gingerbread and steam boat gothic. Stately Victorians are pleasantly situated on the hillside. In recent years, the addition of contemporary homes, condominiums, popular restaurants and meeting places have created an air of sophistication. Each building, old and new, has its own architectural integrity.

Columbia-Tusculum

It is a 10-minute drive to downtown by way of Columbia Parkway (SR50) or Riverside Drive (SR52). Once near downtown, connections to I-71 and I-75 are easily accessed. Queen City Metro Bus service serves the area on a regular schedule with a bus ride time of approximately 20 minutes to downtown.

There are picnic and play areas at Ault Park and Alms Park, two of Cincinnati’s largest and most beautiful parks. Alms Park has beautiful views of the Ohio River. Ault Park has a lovely pavilion that serves as a lookout point to the beautiful gardens. This park hosts many outdoor events during warmer months including a Concours d’Elegance car show, dances and a 4th of July celebration. Annwood Park is located on Madison Road and is a serene parklet with a fountain. 

The private Hyde Park Country Club has an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and a swimming pool. The Cincinnati Country Club, also private, has an 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, squash and tennis courts. The Mt. Lookout Swim Club is private. Nearby Lunken Playfield (public) offers tennis, archery, golf and baseball. Marinas along the nearby Ohio River provide excellent facilities for boating enthusiasts. An indoor tennis club is located across from Lunken Airport and a racquetball facility is located in nearby Fairfax. 

There are also a variety of athletic and rec activities sponsored by neighborhood schools and special interest groups. Hyde Park Square hosts the annual Hyde Park Art Show with over 200 artists showcasing their work. The Hyde Park Blast (held in June) is another square event for runners and bikers.

Hyde Park and Mt. Lookout Squares feature excellent specialty shops, local restaurants and cafes as well as popular pubs. Hyde Park Square hosts a farmer’s market every Sunday. The Echo (on the side of the square) has been a popular place for a meal since 1945 and is open for breakfast and lunch daily. In Mt. Lookout, Zip’s Cafe (which was established in 1926) is known for its burgers. 

Hyde Park Plaza Shopping Center, Rookwood Commons and Rookwood Pavilion serve all convenience needs. Nearby Oakley has its own “downtown” strip along Madison Road with popular eateries, cafes and shops. Kenwood Towne Centre (with Nordstrom, Dilliards and Macy’s as anchors) and Sycamore Plaza (aka Kenwood Square) are only a 15-minute drive away. All feature nationally branded stores along with everything from casual to gourmet dining. 

Need a donut fix? Local Busken Bakery bakes its goodies in Hyde Park and this particular location is open 24 hours a day. And, we cannot forget Peace Love and Little Donuts where you can find scrumptious cake donuts with delectable toppings and frostings.

Hyde Park and Mt. Lookout are adjacent urban communities where people of all ages enjoy the convenience of being centrally located and only minutes from downtown. Throughout this community, older homes are lovingly care for in an urban setting with a suburban vibe. Boasting original exteriors, these homes have modern, up-to-date features for today's living standards. One finds homes of all sizes as well as  apartments, condos and townhouses.

Hyde Park and Mt. Lookout have good access to the heart of Cincinnati, within 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the point of departure.
