Mercy Health - Anderson Hospital in Anderson Township is within a 10-15 minute drive. This 96-bed acute care unit serves the community with 24-hour emergency service, extensive outpatient services, diagnostic and rehabilitative treatments and a variety of surgical and medical procedures. The Five Mile and Beechmont Avenue area  (about 15 minutes away) also has offices for general and specialty doctors including facilities for The Christ Hospital, Tri-Health and Children’s Hospital Anderson. There are several other fine Cincinnati hospitals within a 25-minute drive.

The more things change the more Newtown stays the same. Founded in the early 1700’s, the quaint village of Newtown, Ohio has maintained its charm and small-town feeling.

Many doctors offices are located along Red Bank Road in nearby Madisonville. 'Medpace', a research-based drug and medical device company is located at the corner of Madison and Red Bank Roads. Fairfax is a 15-minute drive to 'Jewish Hospital Kenwood'  which is located on Kenwood Road in Sycamore Township. This hospital features a state-of-the-art patient tower as well as a 24-hour emergency department. It is the region’s only adult Blood & Marrow Transplant Center. 'Bethesda North Hospital', a Level III Trauma Center, is located in the adjoining Montgomery area and is a short 20-minute drive away. 

Other Cincinnati area hospitals, such as The Christ Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, University Hospital (known for its advanced medical research) and the Children’s Hospital Medical Center are located within a 20-minute drive.

The Village of Fairfax is located between Mariemont, Cincinnati and Columbia Township along Wooster Pike. This small village has just over 1,700 residents, and maintains an intimate and neighborly atmosphere. The area has benefited from an economic development plan that has enhanced the look of the business roadway along Route 50.

The community offers ceramics classes, teen dances, soccer camp, a men’s basketball league and a co-ed volley ball league. The Cincinnati Sports Club offers its members indoor and outdoor pools, indoor athletic field, fitness classes as well as sports camps. The Murray Bike Trail is nearby and is used by runners and bicyclists. The proposed Wasson Way bike and walking trail will run through Fairfax. Walkers and bikers would then be able to head either south towards Lunken Airport or north towards the Little Miami Bike Trail. There are two public golf courses nearby – one at Lunken Airport (Reeves) and The Little Miami Golf Center in Newtown. Fairfax is a short drive to several of Cincinnati’s most beautiful parks – Alms Park and Ault Park. These parks have hiking trails, play grounds and picnic and picnic areas. Fairfax hosts several community events throughout the year including a family bowling tournament, youth dance, golf outing, concert in the park, softball tournament, a fall festival, children’s Halloween party and the annual holiday Light Up Fairfax.

Fairfax offers a few stores and restaurants along Route 50. Minutes away and within walking distance are the many boutiques and restaurants in Mariemont, including the Mariemont Theater. Kenwood Towne Center with 200 specialty shops and three anchor stores is a 10-minute drive away. Nearby, Hyde Park, Mt. Lookout and Norwood have many shopping and dining opportunities and are only 5-10 minutes away.

Fairfax has a mayor-council form of government made up of a mayor and six at large council members. City council appoints a village administrator. The long-standing Frisch’s Mainliner Restaurant is a familiar gathering place for those from the area. Fairfax’s convenient location makes it just minutes from area shopping and is 10 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. One finds all kinds of affordable homes in Fairfax from older residences to newly built houses and condominiums. The community is seeing much “infill” construction of newer homes that are replacing older, obsolete houses.

Fairfax is located on Route 50, a five-minute drive to I-71. Fairfax is located 10 minutes east of Downtown Cincinnati, and is served by the Queen City Metro Bus Service.

Attractive estates, homes, townhouses, condominiums and growing retail and commercial areas now grace the hills of Symmes Township where wildlife once roamed the sycamore woods; where farmers worked the fertile soil near the Little Miami River;  and where industrious Germans founded mill villages.

'Symmes Township Park' has 3 picnic shelters, playgrounds, basketball and volleyball courts, walking trails, a bark park and bird sanctuary. The 'Camp Dennison Nature Trail' has a half-mile hiking trail that is quite scenic. Beautiful 'Seven Gables Park' covers over 8 acres at the intersection of Seven Gables and Montgomery Road and has a picnic are, playground and walking trail. 'Home of the Brave Park' has 54 acres with soccer, and softball fields, a Veteran's memorial area as well as wet and dry playground areas.  'Stonebridge Park' features a ball field and playground. 'Blong Memorial Park' is a small park that memorializes those citizens killed by the April 1999 tornado. 'Meade Park' is located on Lebanon Road and is highlighted by the 1900s Greek-Revival House that is used by the Cincinnati Horticultural Society. You will also find a reconstructed log house in this park along with walking trails. 'The Little Miami Bike Trail' runs through the township and offers a great place to ride, run or walk. 'Kings Island Amusement Park' is nearby, as are golf courses, swimming clubs and much more. 

The Symmes Regional Branch Library is the largest branch in the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library System.

The largest retail shopping centers are Harper's Point and Governor's Plaza II. Harper's Station and the Fields Ertel corridor offer many exciting retail choices. Specialty shops, boutiques and large supermarkets also serve the area. The Kenwood Towne Centre is located within a 10-minute drive and features 180 specialty stores as well as Nordstrom, Macy's and Dilliard's department stores. Also nearby is The Kenwood Collection and Sycamore Plaza which feature national brand retail stores.

It's quite a change since the first pioneers came to this area in the 1790s, but a link remains between the first settlers and today's suburban dweller – an appreciation for open spaces, privacy and a less hectic life. Symmes Township bears the name of John Cleves Symmes whose purchase of the lands between the two Miami rivers (the Miami Purchase) in 1788 led to the founding of Cincinnati. The township itself was founded in 1824. Early residents were German and Scotch-Irish. 

Interstates I-71 and I-275 have opened up Symmes to increasing development. Homes are beautiful examples of today's architectural brilliance, gathered together in warm, friendly communities. And while industry and commercialism have ensured Symmes Township's growing prosperity and contemporary services, a sense of history still lives in some older buildings, villages and even in life-long residents.

Easy access to I-71, I-275 and I-75 takes Symmes residents to downtown Cincinnati and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is within 30 minutes.

Interstate I-275 provides 10-12 minutes driving time to Bethesda North Hospital (a level III trauma center) in Montgomery and to Mercy Health Clemont Hospital located in Batavia. All other Cincinnati hospitals are about 30 minutes away, including the nationally recognized Childrens Hospital Medical Center. Terrace Park EMS has an all-volunteer organization for emergency medical care.

Terrace Park has easy access to the Little Miami River for fishing and boating. A variety of recreation youth sports are available in the community. Drackett Field has three soccer fields and three baseball fields. The Terrace Park Swim and Tennis Club is private and has an Olympic-sized pool (two wading pools) and six tennis courts. The  private Terrace Park Country Club has an 18-hole golf course. Public 18-hole courses within 15 minutes driving time are found at Lunken Municipal Golf Course adjacent to Lunken Airport; Indian Valley on Newtown Road off Wooster Pike; and nine holes at the Little Miami Golf Course (Hamilton County Park) also on Newtown Road. The Indian Hill Winter Club is five miles away and has ice hockey, skating and other recreation services. A nature preserve is located at the south end of the village as well as at Red Bird Hollow in nearby Indian Hill. Bikers take advantage of  the Loveland Bike Trail that runs through the village. Terrace Park has a variety of groups for residents to take advantage of: bunco club, book club, poker club and dinner groups. The Terrace Park Players sponsors a community band that performs at Memorial Day and Labor Day parades as well as the annual holiday tree-lighting ceremony.

Terrace Park has a few local shops and restaurants (such as the The Birch restaurant), but most residents head out of the village to meet retail needs. Nearby Mariemont Village features local boutiques and restaurants and is only 5 minutes away. The National Exemplar at the Mariemont Inn is a very popular place for brunch. Charming downtown Milford is also a short drive away and has many local shops and restaurants to enjoy: the Little Miami Brewing Company, 20Brix and Padrinos are popular places for meals. Kenwood Towne Centre is a 15-minute drive and offers over 100 stores along with Nordstrom, Dillards and Macys as anchors. Eastgate Mall is 10-minutes away with more shopping and dining opportunities.

Terrace Park is one of Cincinnati's oldest communities was built on a terrace overlooking the Little Miami River. Known for its tree-lined streets where residents ride bikes, jog or even take golf carts around the community, Terrace Park resembles a New England village. Those who live there are a blend of people deeply rooted in the community for two to three generations as well as those who have just moved in. Friendly and community minded, it is easy to feel at home in Terrace Park. The village has a variety of beautiful home styles that offer charm and character. Streets are named for famous colleges.

Highway U.S. 50 (Columbia Parkway) is the main route south to downtown Cincinnati with good roads leading west to Cincinnati's outlying suburbs. Driving time to downtown is 20 minutes. I-275 is 10 minutes away giving easy access to I-71, I-75 and Ronald Reagan Highway. Cincinnati buses furnish regular service between Terrace Park and downtown Cincinnati.

Moundview Park and Short Park (located in the heart of Newtown) offer a variety of outdoor activities. Newtown is also located along the Little Miami National Scenic Trail and River where one can bike, hike or run. 

Nearby is Lunken Airport Playfield with hiking/biking/walking trails, golf course, driving range, children’s playfield, putt-putt, tennis courts and picnic areas. 

Golfers can either head to Lunken Airport Playfield or enjoy their sport at the nearby public Little Miami Golf Center. The Ivy Hills Country Club and Golf course is private and located minutes away from Newtown. 

Newtown was once the home to the “Fort Ancient” Native Americans. Explore the American Indian Education Center (at the Newtown Municipal Center) to learn about this prehistoric culture. 

The community has several active organizations: Greater Newtown Civic League, Newtown Business Association, Veteran’s Association and The Village Quilters.

The heart of “downtown” Newtown has many local shops and restaurants to enjoy. Residents enjoy the Main Street Cafe, and Urban Grill on Main as well as Just Q’in Barbeque. Dairy Corner and UDF are popular places during the summer when looking for an ice cream treat. Neighborhood breweries are located along US 50. Nearby Mariemont has lovely boutiques. Neighboring areas offer even shopping opportunities including Anderson Town Center, Kenwood Towne Centre and Eastgate Mall, to name a few.

It’s a place to live the serene country life. But Newtown is anything but distanced from contemporary living. It is surrounded by the communities of Anderson Township, Indian Hill, Madeira, Mariemont and Terrace Park. While some Newtownians enjoy a visit to the Dairy Corner or historic Church Street, others shop the super stores only minutes away. The tranquil settings of older homes mix beautifully with the newer spacious home in Ivy Hills and new apartments and condominiums.
