Introduction

Vernon Township has approximately 3,000 residents and a majority residing in unincorporated portions of the township. The area is part of the Virginia Military District that was used by that state to pay its veterans of the American Revolutionary War.

Summary

A majority of the homes in Vernon Township were built in prior to 1939, although there are many homes from the 1970s and 1980s. One finds farm homes on land in the region as well as newly built brick residences.

The township can be reached via the 3C Highway as well as State Routes 132, 133, 350 and 730. I-71 is the closest major highway.
