Summary
Once a milling area, Byrd Township was named after Charles Willling Byrd, the Secretary of the Northwest Territory. The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees. One will find homes with acreage and farms in Byrd Township.

The township is near state routes 68 and 62. Further out one finds state routes 52 and 32. No interstate highways are near Byrd Township and the closest highway connection is I-275 near Cincinnati, Ohio.

Southwest Regional Medical Center and Brown County Hospital are located in Georgetown.
Shopping
Decatur has two smalls stores and a tavern. Georgetown offers many shops and restaurants.
Recreation
Georgetown is the closest village and features The Kathryn Hanlon Park with 40 acres that include a walking trail, playground, soccer and ball fields as well as picnic areas. Shawnee State Park offers trails, boating, fishing, hunting and golf.
