St. Elizabeth West Hospital is located at I-75 at the Florence Exit and staffs a 24-hour emergency room. Other nearby hospitals include St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood (10 minutes) and St. Elizabeth North in Covington (15 minutes).

Nestled between two large, dynamic, and growing metros, Cincinnati and Lexington, Walton is a community of untouched rural beauty. The area was founded in the late 1700s and by 1850 the town had 500 residents. Tobacco factories, livery stables and carriage builders made up Walton’s businesses. When the rail system came through Walton turned into a railroad town with lines on the east and west. In the early 1900s Walton was the largest town in Boone County with diversified businesses.

Northern Kentucky

Northern Kentucky’s sprawling St. Elizabeth operates a satellite hospital in Williamstown-St. Elizabeth Grant County- along with 24-hour medical transport from the area. The Crittenden and Community Volunteer Fire Department provide EMS service to the village residents.

Crittenden is the home of reality television show contestant Rodger Bingham, a much-loved participant on Survivor, The Australian Outback, 2001. Nicknamed “Kentucky Joe”, Rodger finished 5th in the competition.

Life is lived in the country here with residents creating their own opportunities to enjoy the bounty of the outdoors. The 1100-acre Curtis Gates Lloyd Wildlife and Recreation Area, better known as Lloyd Park, provides plenty of virgin forest, nature trails, archery, trap and skeet ranges along with a popular spot for fishing. Grant County Park just south of the village offers picnic areas, a horse ring and stadium, playgrounds, walking and fitness trails, and the Martha Blaine Outdoor Theatre. Nearby Williamstown Lake offers additional boating and recreational opportunities. The Eagle Creek Country Club caters to area golfers. Crittenden is also home of the Grant County Fair.

All of your daily needs can be met in the village or nearby Williamstown or Dry Ridge, but a more in-depth shopping trip will require a ride in the car to Florence or Georgetown.

Located in the ‘heart of it all’ in the golden triangle of Cincinnati, Lexington and Louisville, the village of Crittenden sits in northeastern Grant County, just south of the borders of Boone and Kenton counties. The towns and villages here are known for their southern hospitality and beautiful surroundings, whatever the season. Established in 1831, the village was named for Kentucky statesman John J. Crittenden, a three-term senator, former Governor of Kentucky and two-time Attorney General of the U.S. over 4000 residents call Crittenden home, enjoying the relaxation of life lived at a slower pace.

I75 is the major artery through Grant County; Dixie Highway (St. Rt. 25) is the north/south thoroughfare through the village. St. Rts. 491 and 2942 cross the rolling hills.

Truly a hidden jewel located between Florence and Walton, Kentucky, the small bedroom community of Union has so much to offer, making it a most desirable place to live. There are 5,600 residents in the area.

The Florence/Boone County Skate Park= with 22,000 square feet of concrete is a park for skateboarders, bikers, rollerblades and in-line skaters of course. Located on the campus of the Florence Government Center, this facility is designed for the novice as well as the experts. 

'Florence Freedom', a Frontier League Baseball team was the 2005 Frontier League of the Year. Florence Freedom plays at Champion Field in the heart of Boone County, and offers a hometown, professional baseball experience and is an outing for young and old alike. 

R.C. Durr YMCA is a state-of-the-art YMCA centrally located in Boone County on Route 18. The Y features a heated indoor pool and an outdoor pool, both with 25 lanes. A fitness center with cardio, strength training and free weights, the YMCA has personal fitness programs, a full gymnasium other programs for members. 

Boone County has several public golf courses: 'Boone Links' has been named “Best Bang for the Buck” by Golf Digest. This 27-hole facility is open year round, weather permitting. Just off of Route 18 between Florence, Hebron and Burlington, 'Lassing Point' is an 18-hole course with a driving range and short-game center on the premises. 'World of Golf 'is a great place to play, practice and learn. 

Dinsmore Homestead is a unique historical site where visitors can learn what rural life was like in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Home Tours and seasonal events are a highlight to Boone County History. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking trails developed with the Kentucky Nature Conservancy and the Boone County Parks Program.There are several Boone County parks near Union: 'Boone County Central Park & Arboretum', with 121 acres of botanical gardens, trails and athletic fields. 'Orleans Park' has 11 acres and features a shelter with picnic tables, playground, basketball court, sand volleyball court, stocked lake and a paved walking trail. 'South Fork Park' features 42 acres with a picnic shelter, playground, sand volley ball court, basketball court, bike path and natural wooded and meadow areas. 

Boone County naturally attracts horse lovers, but is also popular with those looking for sports such as swimming, soccer, baseball, tennis, and pee wee football. The arts are represented with dance and art classes available locally and in neighboring Cincinnati. Most any activity is within reach for Boone County residents.

The Florence Mall is a short drive away and features 130 speciality stores. Crestview Hills Town Center is located at I-275 and Dixie Highway and is a lifestyle center featuring Dillards as an anchor along with a wide assortment of speciality stores and restaurants.

Although the feeling is still suburban rural, in recent years Union and outlying areas have been experiencing a surge in residential growth bringing to the area newer suburban housing as well as luxury estates nestled on wooded acreage. There is no major business or industry in the area and the residents seem to prefer it that way. People seem to fall in love with Union because it’s one of the few places you can still purchase a home in the “country” and be only minutes from city conveniences and the expressways. Union residents have the distinction of having the highest average property values in the county, the highest per capita income in the county and the lowest unemployment rate! Quiet and inviting, charming, warm and friendly, a real sense of community can be found here. Union has it all! Homes range from small to expansive with many newly built residences available.

Union is only 10 minutes from I-75 and 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati and just a few miles from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International airport. The region is bisected by Kentucky State Route 42.

St. Elizabeth West is located in Florence (10 minutes). St. Elizabeth is on 20th and Eastern Avenue in Covington. St. Elizabeth South on Dudley Pike in Edgewood, Kentucky, is within ten minutes. Children’s Hospital Outpatient Northern Kentucky is located in nearby Crestview Hills and its main campus is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The area was first called Crewitts Creek. It became “Independence” when Campell County split away and Kenton County was then created in 1840. The city of Independence serves as the county seat of Kenton County and features the traditional white courthouse in the town square. The community has both a rural and suburban mix as well as new developments – each complimenting the other. There are 25,000 residents who live in Independence.

There are numerous basketball courts and baseball fields in Independence. Pee Wee football and knothole baseball are available for boys and girls. Various clubs and organizations are in the area. Kenton Golf Course, a public course, is nearby. The Kenton YMCA has a summer children’s program. The city hosts many summer events called Family Fun Nights at the Amphitheater in Memorial Park including puppet and magic shows, movies and concerts. In addition the city sponsors an Easter Egg Hunt, Memorial Day Parade, Fourth of July celebration and an annual Christmas Walk. 

There are seven parks in Independence. 'Glenhurst Park' is four acres and features a play area and walking trails. 'Independence Park' is also a four-acre park and features playground equipment alongside the green spaces. 'Marion Schadler Park' is a smaller park with one and one-half acres. This park has play equipment and a picnic shelter area. 'Memorial Park' is where the Senior Citizen and Community Center is located on its 26 acres. You will find play equipment, walking trails, a field, an amphitheater, a picnic shelter and a paved track. 'Shadybrook Park' has 17.5 acres amd features soccer fields, basketball courts and playground equipment. 'Sterling Staggs Park' has baseball and soccer fields, volleyball court, playground area and a picnic shelter on its five acres. 'Lincoln Woods Park' has 15 acres and features two tennis courts, a basketball court, playground areas, picnic shelter and two ball fields. 

Florence Mall and downtown Covington Plaza are only 10-20 minutes away.

With good access to the Greater Cincinnati area, this area is feeling the wave of new growth that has taken place in other areas of Northern Kentucky. Suburban and rural neighborhoods characterize this growing community.

Independence

T.A.N.K. city bus service serves the Independence area. Interstates I-75 and I-275 provide access to various points.

'Walton Community Park' offers soccer and softball fields, basketball courts, paved hiking trails, shelters with picnic areas, a playground and tennis courts. 

'Big Bone Lick State Park' and the 'General Butler State Park' are located nearby. 

For those who enjoy car racing, the 'Kentucky Speedway' is a short drive to Sparta, Kentucky. 

Nearby Florence is home to the 'Florence Family Aquatic Center'. This four-acre facility opened is located on the campus of the Florence Government Center in the heart of Boone County. The Aquatic Center features a lazy river, 25-meter competition pool, two sprayground areas, spiral and speed slides and a zero-depth pool. There is a membership charge for this center.

The fertile lands and rolling pastures are attracting many newcomers. Those with a desire to return to the land will appreciate the wealth of productive acreage in Walton. Most of the open space in the country wonderland has been used for farming and raising horses. Homes are located throughout the expansive countryside and range from modest frames to expensive estates with rolling vistas. One thing the many neighborhoods have in common is a feeling of pride and deep cultural background.
