Lifestyle in Huber Heights, OH
Summary
Huber Heights is in northern Montgomery County 15 minutes from downtown Dayton. One of the few Dayton towns laid out with no central downtown, Huber Heights is often referred to as a satellite community of Dayton. Charles H. Huber started the first privately owned utility company in Huber Heights, while also launching the construction of his first plat of brick, single-family homes. Today those modest, single family homes are key factors in attracting residents to this well-planned community of clean air and quiet, secluded streets. Homes of almost every design can be found here from ranches to cape cods and two stories.
Transportation
Huber Heights is bisected by both I-70 and I-75, with business local routes 201 and 202 serving residents transportation needs. RTA provides public transportation.
Hospitals
Hospitals within a 20-mile radius include Children's Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
Shopping
There are no malls located in Huber Heights, but several freestanding department stores fill residents' shopping needs. Fast food restaurants, shopping centers, and local shops also provide for residents' needs.
Recreation
Carriage Hill MetroPark, located at the north end of Huber Heights, offers 900 acres of fun. The park provides a much-loved outdoor outlet for sports and physical activities, including an active visitor center, scenic woodlands, meadows, lakes and ponds - great for hiking, fishing, picnicking and horseback riding. Over 13 small neighborhood parks covering 133 acres include playgrounds, shelters, ball fields, picnic areas and youth sports. Huber Heights Art Council supports cultural events such as Sundays in the Park. Community theatre buffs perform several shows throughout the year.
