Price Hill, OH Community Information

Situated atop one of the highest of Cincinnati’s historic hills, Price Hill is a community of old-world charm. With 31,000 residents this neighborhood has been subdivided into several areas: East Price Hill, West Price Hill and Lower Price Hill. The Lower Price Hill Historict District is a registered historic district (from West Eight Street, State Street, Burns Street and English Street) with 196 buildings. Many people enjoy the panoramic vistas of the Ohio River, Northern Kentucky and downtown Cincinnati from East Price Hill’s Incline District.


One finds breathtaking Victorian era homes and renaissance architecture in its churches and public buildings. Being one of Cincinnati’s earliest outlying settlements, many different periods of growth have contributed to the varied cultures and economic levels. Houses from the last century survive with newer homes. Many of the magnificent large Victorian dwellings are being artfully and carefully restored by young artisans. One can also find many newer homes of brick and frame, more modest in size and price. Altogether, with its fast access to the heart of the downtown district, its many beautiful views from hilltop and hillside properties, the variety of living styles and active revitalization activity, Price Hill is becoming a popular place to live.


Excellent city arteries lead to downtown Cincinnati, a ten-minute drive, or to I-75 which connects the suburbs and villages north of Cincinnati, I-71 which leads east, and I-74 which leads to western Hamilton County and Indiana. Regularly scheduled Queen City Metro Bus service buses link the area with the downtown business section, with connecting crosstown service to many other areas.


Mercy Health West Hospital is within 10 minutes of the area. All other Cincinnati hospitals are approximately 20 minutes away. The area is also convenient to the Western Hills Medical Center. An Urgent Care facility is located at the corner of Harrison and Race. There are also outpatient facilities for Christ Hospital and Children’s Medical Center close by. Other Cincinnati hospitals including The University Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, The Christ Hospital and Children’s Hospital Medical Center are within 20 minutes of the area.


Shopping is excellent in Price Hill. There are local grocers and butchers to frequent as well as miles of retail outlets on Warsaw and Glenway Avenues, including a “super store” branch of a major grocery chain. It is 10 minutes to the Western Hills-Western Woods Shopping complex and Glenway Crossing comprised of some 70 shops, 3 department store branches and branch banking facilities. There is also easy access to Delhi Pike and the excellent shopping facilities offered there.

Primavista restaurant offers not only excellent Italian food, but an exceptional view of the Ohio River. The Incline Public House (named after the incline that traveled up Price Hill) has a nice menu as well as features craft beers. During warmer months, you can enjoy its deck and views of Cincinnati. There many other local restaurants to enjoy from Veracruz Mexican Grill, Somm Wine Bar, Sebatian’s Gyros, and Price Hill Chili, to name a few. Craving something sweet? Head to St. Lawrence Bakery for a donut or two.


Mt. Echo Park (73 acres), high above the majestic bends of the Ohio River, offers a beautiful view of downtown Cincinnati, Great American Ballpark and Paul Brown Stadium plus the many bridges to Northern Kentucky. The view is especially striking at night, from the brow of an almost vertical hillside. Playground facilities and shelter houses are found in Mt. Echo Park. Olden View Park is located at the top of the historic Price Hill Incline. Enjoy a picnic and the overlook views there. Rapid Run Park is another asset to the Price Hill-Covedale area, offering ample sports facilities in season, including ice skating on the lake in winter. Oskamp Playfield offers baseball, swimming and a playground area. Proximity to the Ohio River with its fine marinas, attracts boating and water sports enthusiasts.

A highly developed sports program in the Price Hill-Covedale area has produced innumerable college and professional athletes. There are two indoor tennis and racquetball clubs within 10 minutes of the area.

For those who enjoy the theater the Warsaw Federal Incline Theater hosts plays and musicals throughout the year. This arts center is located at the corner of West Eighth Street and Matson Place. The Warsaw Project Gallery and The Flats Art Gallery are great places to appreciate artistic talents.
