Introduction

Groesbeck was originally founded as West Union but changed its name in 1857 when it discovered another West Union already existed in Ohio. (The area was originally named for the first resident, Charles West.) In November 2007, Businessweek magazine named this community among the best 50 places to raise children.

Groesbeck shares its government, schools and law enforcement with Colerain Township. In the area, homes range from ranches to two-stories.

Transportation

I-275 transports one around the outer loop of Cincinnati with a connection to I-75 for north and south travel. Ronald Reagan Highway connects east and west travel. It is a 15-minute drive to downtown Cincinnati. Cincinnati buses service the area.

Hospitals

All seven of Cincinnati’s finest hospitals are within a 15-minute drive via the interstate, including Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, Christ Hospital and University Hospital. Mercy Hospital is within a 10-minute drive.

Shopping

The area has many local businesses, shops and restaurants including the iconic Walt’s Barbeque on Colerain Avenue. Stone Creek Shopping Center and Northgate Mall are nearby and have a Macy’s and Sears as well as 200+ national-branded stores.

Recreation

Heritage Park, Dravo Park, Clippard Park and Colerain Park are located nearby, offering playing fields, water parks, playgrounds as well as concerts and other community activities. Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve offers a walking trail, butterfly and wildflower garden as well as has events at its two-story barn. Golfing is available at nearby Pebble Creek Golf Course. Clippard YMCA offers indoor and outdoor pools and other recreation. The Miami River is enjoyed by boating enthusiasts. Youth sports is available to area residents.
