Fairmount has its beginnings as farmland in the early 1800s. With the industrialization of the Mill Creek valley, factories were established including breweries with the immigration of German residents. The community also attracted Italian newcomers in the early 1900s. In the several distinct neighborhoods developed throughout the years: North Fairmount, South Fairmount, Millvale (northeast) and English Woods.


One finds older homes in Fairmount from modest two stories to Victorian residences.


Fairmount has easy access to Interstate 75 for north and south travel. It is located 10 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. Connections to I-74, I-71, and I-275 make traveling throughout Cincinnati a 15-minute drive. Cincinnati buses service the area.


Cincinnati’s area hospitals, including Bethesda North, Christ, Good Samaritan, Children’s Hospital Medical Center and University hospitals are all within 10 to 15 minutes by car.


There are local and national fast food restaurants located in the neighborhood. Downtown is an 10-minute drive to shops, entertainment, restaurants and sporting venures including the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.Tri County Mall and Kenwood Towne Centre are both a 15-minute drive, offering hundreds of national brand stores.


South Fairmount Playground is located on Queen City Avenue.
