Several Northern Kentucky hospitals and their branches, St. Elizabeth and St. Elizabeth, are within a few minutes driving.

Thorn Hill Dragway, a quarter-mile drag strip near the village, was originally the Thorn Hill Airfield and was built during Prohibition by “Bootleggers” who were transporting moonshine by small plane. Today a local car club runs the track.

Northern Kentucky

Northern Kentucky’s sprawling St. Elizabeth operates a satellite hospital in Williamstown-St. Elizabeth Grant County- along with 24-hour medical transport from the area. The Crittenden and Community Volunteer Fire Department provide EMS service to the village residents.

Crittenden is the home of reality television show contestant Rodger Bingham, a much-loved participant on Survivor, The Australian Outback, 2001. Nicknamed “Kentucky Joe”, Rodger finished 5th in the competition.

Life is lived in the country here with residents creating their own opportunities to enjoy the bounty of the outdoors. The 1100-acre Curtis Gates Lloyd Wildlife and Recreation Area, better known as Lloyd Park, provides plenty of virgin forest, nature trails, archery, trap and skeet ranges along with a popular spot for fishing. Grant County Park just south of the village offers picnic areas, a horse ring and stadium, playgrounds, walking and fitness trails, and the Martha Blaine Outdoor Theatre. Nearby Williamstown Lake offers additional boating and recreational opportunities. The Eagle Creek Country Club caters to area golfers. Crittenden is also home of the Grant County Fair.

All of your daily needs can be met in the village or nearby Williamstown or Dry Ridge, but a more in-depth shopping trip will require a ride in the car to Florence or Georgetown.

Located in the ‘heart of it all’ in the golden triangle of Cincinnati, Lexington and Louisville, the village of Crittenden sits in northeastern Grant County, just south of the borders of Boone and Kenton counties. The towns and villages here are known for their southern hospitality and beautiful surroundings, whatever the season. Established in 1831, the village was named for Kentucky statesman John J. Crittenden, a three-term senator, former Governor of Kentucky and two-time Attorney General of the U.S. over 4000 residents call Crittenden home, enjoying the relaxation of life lived at a slower pace.

I75 is the major artery through Grant County; Dixie Highway (St. Rt. 25) is the north/south thoroughfare through the village. St. Rts. 491 and 2942 cross the rolling hills.

Dry Ridge was home to legendary Grand Ole Opry star Skeeter Davis. Skeeter, born Mary Francis Penick, was the first female country artist to have a number one crossover hit on the pop charts; the End of the World remains popular today.

Centrally located in Grant County, residents have easy access to Kentucky’s abundant outdoor recreation, including nearby 142-acre Bullock Pen Lake and Williamstown Lake. 'Piddle Park' has 15 acres that include a playground, picnic shelter, tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball court as well as a baseball field. The skate board area draws in many who enjoy this sport! 'The Eagle Creek County Club' is located in nearby Crittenden and is a private club (with limited public tee times) and boasts a Junior Olympic swimming pool. A unique business, the 'House of Reptiles', travels to schools, scouts, festivals, fairs, libraries teaching about reptiles with over 80 animals on display every day for viewing. The 'Buckeye Station Train Museum and Farm' is an animal rescue and free train museum featuring HO scale trains.

The VF Outlet (formerly the Dry Ridge Outlet Center) and area Walmart are popular shopping destinations for much of Grant County with plenty of other options to meet everyday shopping needs.

Dry Ridge is centrally located in Grant County, 32 miles south of Greater Cincinnati and 43 miles north of Lexington along I75. Home to 2100 residents, it was named for the ridge dividing the Kentucky and Licking River watersheds. Dry Ridge is the quintessential image of small town America offering residents the fabric of small-town life. Its location provides easy access to all the attractions of Central Kentucky as well as those of Northern Kentucky and Southwestern Ohio. Dry Ridge, primarily a farming economy, offers a comfortable community atmosphere, where people are friendly.

I75 is the major artery through Grant County. The Skeeter Davis Highway honors hometown legend Skeeter Davis. St. Rt. 22 bisects the village. The Greater Cincinnati International Airport, providing air transport to Grant County residents, is 25 miles north of Dry Ridge.

St. Elizabeth West Hospital is located at I-75 at the Florence Exit and staffs a 24-hour emergency room. Other nearby hospitals include St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood (10 minutes) and St. Elizabeth North in Covington (15 minutes).

Nestled between two large, dynamic, and growing metros, Cincinnati and Lexington, Walton is a community of untouched rural beauty. The area was founded in the late 1700s and by 1850 the town had 500 residents. Tobacco factories, livery stables and carriage builders made up Walton’s businesses. When the rail system came through Walton turned into a railroad town with lines on the east and west. In the early 1900s Walton was the largest town in Boone County with diversified businesses.

'Walton Community Park' offers soccer and softball fields, basketball courts, paved hiking trails, shelters with picnic areas, a playground and tennis courts. 

'Big Bone Lick State Park' and the 'General Butler State Park' are located nearby. 

For those who enjoy car racing, the 'Kentucky Speedway' is a short drive to Sparta, Kentucky. 

Nearby Florence is home to the 'Florence Family Aquatic Center'. This four-acre facility opened is located on the campus of the Florence Government Center in the heart of Boone County. The Aquatic Center features a lazy river, 25-meter competition pool, two sprayground areas, spiral and speed slides and a zero-depth pool. There is a membership charge for this center. 

The 'Florence/Boone County Skate Park' with 22,000 square feet of concrete is a park for skateboarders, bikers, rollerblades and in-line skaters of course. Located on the campus of the Florence Government Center, this facility is designed for the novice as well as the experts. 

'Florence Freedom', a Frontier League Baseball team was the 2005 Frontier League Organization of the Year. Florence Freedom plays at Champion Field in the heart of Boone County, and offers a hometown, professional baseball experience and is an outing for young and old alike. 

'R.C. Durr YMCA' is a state-of-the-art YMCA centrally located in Boone County on Route 18. The YMCA features a heated indoor pool and an outdoor pool, both with 25 lanes. A fitness center with cardio, strength training and free weights, the YMCA has personal fitness programs, a full gymnasium other programs for members. 

Boone County has several public golf courses: 'Boone Links' has been named “Best Bang for the Buck” by Golf Digest. This 27-hole facility is open year round, weather permitting. Just off of Route 18 between Florence, Hebron and Burlington, 'Lassing Point' is an 18-hole course with a driving range and short-game center on the premises. 'World of Golf 'is a great place to play, practice and learn. 'Fox Run Golf Course' is located in Independence in Kenton County. 

'Dinsmore Homestead' is a unique historical site where visitors can learn what rural life was like in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Home Tours and seasonal events are a highlight to Boone County History. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking trails developed in cooperation with the Kentucky Nature Conservancy and the Boone County Parks Program. 

Boone County naturally attracts horse lovers, but is also popular with those looking for sports such as swimming, soccer, baseball, tennis, and pee wee football. The arts are represented with dance and art classes available locally and in neighboring Cincinnati. Most any activity is within reach for Boone County residents.

The Walton Towne Center has a Kohl’s department store, Kroger Marketplace store as well as several other stores and restaurants. The public library is also located within this center. More shopping opportunities are available by driving to Florence Mall which features 130 specialty stores. Crestview Hills Town Center at I-275 and Dixie Highway is a lifestyle center featuring Dillards as an anchor along with a wide assortment of specialty stores and restaurants offering clothing, cosmetics, home furnishings and sporting equipment.

The fertile lands and rolling pastures are attracting many newcomers. Those with a desire to return to the land will appreciate the wealth of productive acreage in Walton. Most of the open space in the country wonderland has been used for farming and raising horses. Homes are located throughout the expansive countryside and range from modest frames to expensive estates with rolling vistas. One thing the many neighborhoods have in common is a feeling of pride and deep cultural background. The rich pioneer spirit and bright new future of Walton make it one of the most promising places in Boone County.

Walton is located within 600 miles of 60% of the nation’s population and 60% of the nation’s manufacturing businesses. I-75 makes the drive from Walton to Cincinnati only 25 minutes. Nearby I-275 is located nearby with easy access to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. US 25 and US 42 bisect Walton.

Major hospitals are located 20-25 miles north of DeMossville. St. Elizabeth and Cincinnati Children’s Hospitals are in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

DeMossville, Kentucky sits along the Licking River in Pendleton County, 30 miles south of Cincinnati. As of 2010, the population was 1,976 residents.

Kincaid Lake State Park and A.J. Jolly Park and Golf Course are both about 15 miles from DeMossville. Both parks offer hiking, fishing, camping and golf.

The retailers and restaurants of Alexandria, Kentucky offer the widest variety of shopping.

DeMossville was settled in 1852 and was named for the DeMoss family. The town sits along the L&N (Louisville & Nashville) Railroad, which stopped running in 1982.

DeMossville sits between US-27 and I-75. The Licking River can be crossed at KY-536 in Visalia to the north and KY-177 in Butler to the south.

Wide-open spaces leave plenty of time and room for outdoor enthusiasts, and many homes nearby house horses for leisure riding. Kenton Lake and the Licking River provide sport for fishermen, and AJ Jolly Golf Course and Park offer additional recreation in the area. 

The Morning View Heritage Area is 213 acres of dedicated conservation space. Although not open to the public at this time, there are plans to permit hiking, bird watching and education uses on the land in the future. The Mary Kathryn Dickerson Learning Center – which is an English-style barn made mostly of salvaged and hand-sawn wood – is located on this property.

Morning View residents have to take a short drive to meet most of their daily shopping needs, with the shopping center Florence Mall just 15 minutes away. Cincinnati and additional shopping malls offer more extensive shopping within a 30-minute drive.

Tucked into extreme southeastern Kenton County nestled near a bend in the Licking River, Morning View is one of the smallest neighborhoods in the county. Primarily rural, residents here enjoy wide-open spaces with nearby access to several lakes, golf courses, and the river.

Kentucky Rts. 177 and 14 (Rich Road) meander through Morning View. The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) provides bus service through the region, and into downtown Cincinnati. Greater Cincinnati International Airport is a close 14 miles.
