Ludlow was once home to Lagoon Amusement Park, a major recreational center for the Greater Cincinnati area between 1895 and 1920. After its closing, part of the Lagoon property was developed as a residential neighborhood. Today parts of Lake Street, Laurel, Stokesay, Deverill and Ludford were built on its site.

Northern Kentucky

Bromley residents occasionally refer to the city as Dixie, or Crescent Park. Charles Collins, an 1848 landowner, named the city. Collins acquired most of the 2,000 acres and bought the historic property called the Landmark residence. As a historic home, it’s the oldest dwelling in Kenton County. He laid out the first city streets and named the city Bromley after his hometown in England. Most of Bromley’s streets are named in honor of early Kentucky pioneers and politicians.

Riverfront access allows boaters and fishing enthusiasts easy access to the Ohio River. Numerous festivals and outdoor events each summer weekend provide an endless supply of outdoor activities in nearby Cincinnati, Covington and Newport riverfronts. Devou Park, in Bromley’s backyard, offers scenic bike/hiking trails, fishing lake, golf course and entertainment facilities, along with arguably one of the best vistas of the downtown Cincinnati skyline. The Bromley City Park offers a playground and ball fields for residents.

Most residents patronize other Kenton County communities of Covington, Villa Hills, Ft. Mitchell or Crescent Springs to do their daily shopping. Downtown Cincinnati and several local shopping malls offer more extensive shopping within a 15-minute drive.

Bromley sits squarely on the Ohio River in north central Kenton County. With a small population of just over 800, it’s one of Northern Kentucky’s smaller communities, just five short miles to downtown Cincinnati. Residents here, within minutes of all that downtown Cincinnati has to offer, enjoy a small, tight-knit riverfront community supportive of the volunteer fire department.

Bromley

Less than five minutes from downtown Cincinnati off easily accessible I-75, it’s easy to get around in Bellevue. Meandering Kentucky Rt. 8 (Pike Street) bisects the city, linking it to Ludlow on the east and Villa Hills on its western border. St. Rt. 1072 and Bromley Crescent Springs Rd offer easy access to the city. The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) provides bus service through the region, and into downtown Cincinnati. Greater Cincinnati International Airport is a close 14 miles.

Park Hills is within 15 minutes of four major hospitals. The hospitals are St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, St. Elizabeth West and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Children's Hospital is located in Cincinnati.

Many homeowners in Park Hills feel they have chosen the loveliest, most convenient community in the metropolitan area. It has been named as a Best Place to Live by Cincinnati Magazine. Many parts of Park Hills are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The area was developed in the 1920s when three local families purchased land and began forming streets (many of which are named after famous historical figures as well as names from literature). The city was formally incorporated in 1927 with 500 residents. A former trolley system transported residents to downtown Covington, Cincinnati and other places in Kenton County. Trolley Park is named in honor of that transportation system and you can see one of the trolley stop shelters in this park.

Park Hills is next door to Devou Park, with lovely picnic areas, a museum, a memorial building, and a spectacular view. It also includes a golf course and tennis courts, as well as a clubhouse. Tennis and golf lessons are available. Private country clubs and swim clubs are nearby. The community hosts an annual Memorial Day Parade, Easter Egg Hunt and an annual picnic at Trolley Park.

Downtown shopping areas in both Cincinnati and Covington are easily accessible. Crestview Hills Town Center and Buttermilk Towne Center are 10-20 minutes south of Park Hills. Park Hills residents are no more than 25 minutes away from most of the major shopping areas in Greater Cincinnati.

Adjacent to Devou Park, Park Hills residents enjoy easy access to tennis, golf and hiking, while being just five minutes away from the cultural, sports, and business activities of downtown Cincinnati. A strong sense of community enhances its appeal. Well known for its hills, wooded lots and large traditional homes, Park Hills is a fine place to live. There are 3,000 residents.

T.A.N.K. bus service (Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky) provides transportation throughout Northern Kentucky. Downtown Cincinnati is a five minute drive. Florence Industrial Park and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport require a 10-15 minute drive.

St. Elizabeth Medical Center North is located within the City of Covington. The University of Cincinnati Medical Center is just minutes away. Children's Hospital is located in Cincinnati.

Covington is Northern Kentucky’s largest city and is the fifth largest city in Kentucky. The city is currently undergoing a dynamic surge of growth and renovation. The city is located between the Licking and Ohio Rivers and has a population of 43,000 residents. The city was founded in 1814.

Covington is famous for Devou Park which contains 700+ acres of beautiful grounds complete with an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, museum and amphitheater as well as a beautiful view of downtown Cincinnati and Covington. 

Covington has many parks to enjoy: Randolph Park has an Olympic-sized swimming pool as well a picnic shelter, playground basketball court and ball field. Peaselburg Little Peoples Playland has a fenced-in playground. The Lance Corporal Justin Sims Memorial Park has a playground and picnic tables. Goebel Park offers trails, picnic shelter, playground and water park/pool. The Annie Hargraves has a playground, basketball court and picnic areas. The 30th Street Decoursey Park features trails, a picnic shelter, playground and basketball court.  Barb Cook Park has a playground and basketball court. George Rogers Clark Park is along the Ohio River offering beautiful views of downtown Cincinnati to those who walk and bike along the sidewalks. Kenney Shields Park offers trails and a basketball court and connects to the Goebel pool via a walking trail. Goebel Park is best known for its German-style Carroll chimes clock tower. This park has trails, a picnic shelter, playground and waterpark/pool. Hard Pike Park is the southernmost park in Covington has a playground, picnic tables and benches. The Licking River Greenway Trails connects the Licking River, Covington, Taylor Mill and Newport with a 12-14 miles trail system when it is completed. The George Steinford Park is the Sixth Street Promenade in Covington and is the heart of the MainStrasse Village. Many residents stroll and walk their dogs while enjoying the village-style views. Many events are held along this promenade. The Bill Cappel Youth Sports Complex is a large park that includes five lit ball fields, two soccer fields, picnic shelter, walking paths and a zero-depth water park. BF Howard Park features a beautiful fountain and benches.The annual WEBN Fireworks along the Ohio River riverfront are held during the Labor Day weekend. Covington residents have stunning views of this fireworks display from along the river banks to the top of Devou Park. 

Twin Oaks golf course is located in the Rosedale section of Covington and is a beautiful, well maintained 18-hole golf course. The Devou Park golf course offers 18 holes for golfers of all abilities.

The historic MainStrasse area of the city is a very attractive renovated shopping area with a distinctive German flavor and small specialty shops. Stores are also located just across the bridge in downtown Cincinnati.

New hotels, office towers and riverboat restaurants along the riverfront are among the most prestigious in the Greater Cincinnati area. Covington is also aware of the importance of maintaining its heritage of fine old homes. Many of these lovely homes and 19th century row houses are on the National Register of Historic places. In recent years, homes and condominiums that take advantage of the spectacular river and Cincinnati skyline views have been built. With this combination of progress and heritage, Covington offers its residents an exciting urban lifestyle with a touch of history.

The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (T.A.N.K.) services Covington extensively. I-75 travels through Covington, and within a 10-minute drive is Interstate I-275. There are three bridges connecting Covington with Cincinnati to the north and two bridges with Newport and the rest of Campbell County to the east. Covington is a 15-minute drive to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

For everyday needs, Ludlow has many options from locally owned and nationally branded stores and shops. Most residents patronize other Kenton County communities of Covington, Villa Hills, Ft. Mitchell or Crescent Springs to do their daily shopping. Downtown Cincinnati and several local shopping malls offer more extensive shopping within a 15-minute drive.

Ludlow, situated in north central Kenton County, is often thought of as a suburb of Covington, Kentucky. The city is bordered on the north by the Ohio River, on the east by Covington, and shares its southern border with Fort Wright. With its easy access to the riverfront and I-75, it has become a bedroom community for many who work across the river. The city, like many other small towns, experienced a baby boom following World War II, but today Ludlow is known for its close-knit neighborhoods. There are 4,400 residents. One finds many types of homes in Ludlow. From newly built condominiums with sweeping river views to older homes with character, there are a wide variety of styles and prices in housing options.
