Northern Kentucky

St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood is about 10 miles away. St. Elizabeth West in Florence at Turfway near Burlington Pike, and Gateway Rehab Hospital are both within 5 miles of the center of Burlington.

Serving as the county seat of Boone County, the village of Burlington has the charm of the old and the excitement of the new. There are 11,000 area residents.

'R.C. Durr YMCA'- This state of the art YMCA is Centrally located in Boone County on Route 18. The YMCA features a heated indoor pool and an outdoor pool, both with 25 lanes. Burlington is home to many public parks! The 'England-Idlewild Park and and Dog Park' is 20- acres and has three stocked fishing ponds. There are baseball fields, basketball courts, a 24-hole disc golf course, mountain bike trails, hiking trails with fitness stations, a playground, soccer field, three picnic shelters as well as a dedicated dog park. 'Boone Cliffs' is 74 acres with green forest and 20 to 40-foot cliff formations.  There are unpaved walking trails making this a challenging hiking venue. 'Boone Woods Park' is home to the Creekside Stage that features movies and concerts during the summer. This 50-acre park has three shelters, an 18-hole disc golf course, basketball and bocce ball courts, horseshoe pits, two playgrounds, a soccer field as well as tennis and volleyball courts.  'Camp Ernst Lake' features a boat launch, fishing from their stocked lake, small shelters and a practice soccer field. The 'Conservancy Park Belleview' has 45 acres with fishing, a shelter and an unpaved walking trail. 'Dinsmore Woods' is located next to the historic Dinsmore Homestead. This 107-acre park has an unpaved walking trail as well as wildflower fields. 'Gunpowder Creek Nature Park' has 122 acres. There is one shelter, a playground as well as unpaved walking trails. 'Middle Creek Park' features horse trails, picnic tables, unpaved walking trails and wildflowers in its 230 acres. 'Pete’s Park' is a smaller park with a swing and picnic tables.' 

For antique enthusiasts, the 'Burlington Antique' show takes place at the Boone County Fairgrounds from April through October and is said to be the Midwest’s Premier Antique and Vintage Collectibles show.

The Walnut Creek Park is 2.5 acres and is located in the Walnut Creek subdivision. There is a ball field and open play area. Lincoln Woods Park features a tennis court, basketball court, playground, dirt trails and ball fields. Kentaboo Park is almost 16 acres and features the Evelyn M. Kalb Gathering House and an event center. There are paved walking trails, too.

Florence

T.A.N.K. buses serve Florence and most areas of Boone County at about 20-minute intervals. The main streets, Dixie Highway and U.S. 42, lead to Interstate 75. Driving time to downtown Cincinnati is about 15 minutes. It is a 10-minute drive to the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport.

St. Elizabeth West is on Turfway Road in Florence. St. Elizabeth South is on Dudley Road in Edgewood. Hospitals are 10 minutes from Erlanger. There is also an Erlanger Rescue Squad available through the Erlanger Police. Children's Hospital is located in Cincinnati.

Erlanger is third-largest city in Kenton County with a population of 18,000+ residents. The area was settled around 1807 with a log cabin. The community grew through time and was originally called Timberlake, then Greenwood and Silver Lake. The city was finally named after the Parisian family bank of Emile d’Erlanger that helped finance the town’s development.

Activities for youths include little league baseball, knothole baseball, and pee wee football. Roller skating and bowling establishments are in the area. Other activities convenient to the area are golf, tennis, and dancing. The public library is on Dixie Highway. The Silver Lake Recreation Center offers fitness and exercise equipment, gymnastics, youth programs, senior programs and an aquatic center. 

There are 12 parks in Erlanger: 'Center Street  and Locust Parks' are across the street from each other and  offer a basketball courts and play areas. The 'Railroad Depot Park' is the home of the Erlanger Historical Society and the Depot Museum. Also find a play areas, grass field and a picnic shelter there. 'Flagship Park' has a climbing wall volleyball court, play areas, unpaved walking trails, grassy areas, picnic shelter and  a fishing pond. 'Stetter Park' has a basketball court, swings and a grassy field. 'Locust Street and Mistry Creek Park' both feature a basketball court and swings. 'Rainbow Park' offers a basketball court, picnic area, practice soccer field,and a climbing center. 'Sherbourne Park' has a climbing area and swings. 'Silver Lake Park' has two basketball courts, play areas, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, soccer and baseball fields, picnic areas and is located near the Silverlake Rec Center.  'Spring Valley Park' has a walking/bike path, baseball and soccer field, play area and is near the Nature Park. 'Maywood Park' features a basketball court. 'The Glades of Erlanger Park' is a nature trail park.Erlanger hosts quite a few community events throughout the year including Valentine’s Day, Easter, Heritage Day, Halloween and Christmas. There are also many events throughout the warmer months including concerts.

There are several shopping centers in the area including Crestview Hills Town Center in neighboring Edgewood, which offers more than a dozen restaurants and 50+ retailers. The spacious Florence Mall, with two-level shopping, offers approximately 125 stores. Restaurants are only a few minutes away.

Erlanger is called “The Friendship City” and  as one of the older communities in the area, it is predominately a residential area with many old family businesses and new enterprises lining the two major highways running through the city. Older homes of all sizes and styles can be found in this community. Also, new development is still available offering a variety of home styles.
