St. Elizabeth Hospital is located at I-75 at the Florence exit and staffs a 24-hour emergency room. Other nearby hospitals include St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood (10 minutes) and St. Elizabeth North in Covington (15 minutes). St. Elizabeth Florence Children’s Pavilion is located on Turfway Road.

Northern Kentucky

St. Elizabeth West is on Turfway Road in Florence. St. Elizabeth South is on Dudley Road in Edgewood. Hospitals are 10 minutes from Erlanger. There is also an Erlanger Rescue Squad available through the Erlanger Police. Children's Hospital is located in Cincinnati.

Erlanger is third-largest city in Kenton County with a population of 18,000+ residents. The area was settled around 1807 with a log cabin. The community grew through time and was originally called Timberlake, then Greenwood and Silver Lake. The city was finally named after the Parisian family bank of Emile d’Erlanger that helped finance the town’s development.

Activities for youths include little league baseball, knothole baseball, and pee wee football. Roller skating and bowling establishments are in the area. Other activities convenient to the area are golf, tennis, and dancing. The public library is on Dixie Highway. The Silver Lake Recreation Center offers fitness and exercise equipment, gymnastics, youth programs, senior programs and an aquatic center. 

There are 12 parks in Erlanger: 'Center Street  and Locust Parks' are across the street from each other and  offer a basketball courts and play areas. The 'Railroad Depot Park' is the home of the Erlanger Historical Society and the Depot Museum. Also find a play areas, grass field and a picnic shelter there. 'Flagship Park' has a climbing wall volleyball court, play areas, unpaved walking trails, grassy areas, picnic shelter and  a fishing pond. 'Stetter Park' has a basketball court, swings and a grassy field. 'Locust Street and Mistry Creek Park' both feature a basketball court and swings. 'Rainbow Park' offers a basketball court, picnic area, practice soccer field,and a climbing center. 'Sherbourne Park' has a climbing area and swings. 'Silver Lake Park' has two basketball courts, play areas, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, soccer and baseball fields, picnic areas and is located near the Silverlake Rec Center.  'Spring Valley Park' has a walking/bike path, baseball and soccer field, play area and is near the Nature Park. 'Maywood Park' features a basketball court. 'The Glades of Erlanger Park' is a nature trail park.Erlanger hosts quite a few community events throughout the year including Valentine’s Day, Easter, Heritage Day, Halloween and Christmas. There are also many events throughout the warmer months including concerts.

There are several shopping centers in the area including Crestview Hills Town Center in neighboring Edgewood, which offers more than a dozen restaurants and 50+ retailers. The spacious Florence Mall, with two-level shopping, offers approximately 125 stores. Restaurants are only a few minutes away.

Erlanger is called “The Friendship City” and  as one of the older communities in the area, it is predominately a residential area with many old family businesses and new enterprises lining the two major highways running through the city. Older homes of all sizes and styles can be found in this community. Also, new development is still available offering a variety of home styles.

Erlanger

Erlanger is situated in the middle of the Northern Kentucky area bordering on I-75 and I-275. T.A.N.K. buses serve Erlanger at about 20-minute intervals. Donaldson Road leads off Dixie Highway to the I-75 interchange. Driving time to Cincinnati is about 15 minutes. The Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport is is located in Hebron, Kentucky  and is a short drive away.

Elsmere was first settled in 1885 and was originally known as South Erlanger. Incorporated as the City of Elsmere in 1896, it sits on the border of Boone and Kenton County between Erlanger and Florence.  There are 8,400 residents and the city is named after Elsmere Avenue in Norwood, Ohio – the hometown of one of its founders.

Elsmere

St. Elizabeth Medical Center South is on Dudley Pike in Edgewood. Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital Northern Kentucky is located in Edgewood and provides post-acute care. St. Elizabeth North in Covington and St. Elizabeth West in Florence are only 10-15 minutes away on I-75. Children’s Hospital Medical Center is located in Cincinnati, Ohio. EMS services are provided by the city.

Edgewood, one of Northern Kentucky’s largest suburbs, has an appealing All-American quality with its 9,400 residents. Edgewood was incorporated in 1948. In 1968, it merged with Summit Hills Heights and Pius Heights.

Summit Hills Country Club, Brookwood Swim Club and Five Seasons Sports Club are within the area. Kenton County Golf Course, a public facility, is nearby. This city’s motto is: “Where every day is a walk in the park”  and Edgewood boasts two large parks: Presidents Park and Freedom Park. Presidents Park has 20 sprawling acres and provides a variety of youth activities and organized sports as well as tennis, volleyball and picnicking facilities. You can also enjoy the presidential walkway at this park. Freedom Park features volleyball and basketball courts, a playground, baseball and soccer fields, a picnic shelter as well as two memorials: one for 9/11 and a veteran’s memorial. Just outside of city limits is the Doe Run Lake Park and Kenton County Public Park. Edgewood hosts several community events throughout the year include a Fourth of July parade and concerts, many outdoor park concerts, Shakespeare in the park, a Halloween event and a Luminary Night in December.

Shopping in Edgewood is convenient and varied. Crestview Hills Town Center features a Dillard’s department store and over 70 other retail stores and restaurants. Heritage International offers a few more shopping options. The Florence Mall and downtown Cincinnati are within 10 minutes. Other major shopping areas are within easy driving distance.

This community has grown and prospered through the years, and is sensitive to the needs of its residents. Neighborhoods in this community are attractive and well maintained. Edgewood

Quick access to I-75/71 and I-275 add to the ease of living in this community. T.A.N.K. buses serve the Edgewood area.

There are many parks in Florence. Florence Nature Park has 15+ acres with paved walking trails. People also enjoy the brick patio with a grill, granite animals, and a gazebo. Orleans Park has 11acres and is near the Orleans North subdivision. It has a shelter, playground area, sled hill, open space field, volleyball court, stocked lake and a paved walking trail. South Fork Park features 42 acres and has a nautical theme. Enjoy a sheltered area, playground, volleyball/basketball courts, pedestrian bridge, bike path log dam habitats, natural meadow areas as well as mounded earthen sculpture of topsoil for play. Stringtown Park has a Camelot theme on its eight acres. It has a playground area, basketball court, four fitness stations, paved trail and a shelter. This park also features sand volleyball, corn-hole sets and a seat wall. Niblack Memorial Park is 4.5 acres and is home to the Florence Senior Activity Center. The Walnut Creek Park is 2.5 acres and is located in the Walnut Creek subdivision. There is a ball field and open play area. Lincoln Woods Park features a tennis court, basketball court, playground, dirt trails and ball fields. Kentaboo Park is almost 16 acres and features the Evelyn M. Kalb Gathering House and an event center. There are paved walking trails, too.  

The Florence/Boone County Skate Park with 22,000 square feet of concrete is the place for skateboarders, bikers, rollerblades and in-line skaters of course. Located on the campus of the Florence Government Center, this facility is designed for the novice as well as the experts. 

Florence Freedom, a Frontier League Baseball team was the 2005 Frontier League Organization of the Year. Florence Freedom plays at Champion Field in the heart of Boone County, and offers a hometown, professional baseball experience and is an outing for young and old alike. 

R.C. Durr YMCA is a state-of-the-art facility centrally located in Boone County on Route 18. The Y features a heated indoor pool and an outdoor pool, both with 25 lanes. A fitness center with cardio, strength training and free weights, the YMCA has personal fitness programs, a full gymnasium other programs for members. 

There are several public golf courses near Florence: Boone Links has been named “Best Bang for the Buck” by Golf Digest. This 27-hole facility is open year round, weather permitting. Just off of Route 18 between Florence, Hebron and Burlington. Lassing Point is an 18-hole course with a driving range and short-game center. World of Golf is a great place to play, practice and learn. 

Dinsmore Homestead is a unique historical site where you can learn what rural life was like in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Home tours and seasonal events are a highlight to Boone County history. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking trails developed in cooperation with the Kentucky Nature Conservancy and the Boone County Parks Program. 

The city of Florence hosts community events throughout the year. A Pooch Fest is held in September. Halloween Night Out brings out kids in costumes at the government center. The city also has a Veterans Day event and a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony. 

Boone County naturally attracts horse lovers, but is also popular with those looking for sports such as swimming, soccer, baseball, tennis, and pee wee football. The arts are represented with dance and art classes available locally and in neighboring Cincinnati. Most any activity is within reach for Boone County residents.

Florence Mall features 130 speciality stores. Crestview Hills Town Center is located at I-275 and Dixie Highway and is a lifestyle center featuring Dillards as an anchor along with a wide assortment of stores and restaurants. This shopping center is close to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and Thomas More College in neighboring Kenton County.
