Prehistoric Indian mound builders were probably the first residents of this area. The city name originated from the rich resources of the land, the picturesque cliffs and the many springs and abundant waters in the area.

Dayton, OH

Springfield Regional Medical Center services the area. Madison Health Hospital is located in London, Ohio.

The village of South Vienna was platted in 1833 by John H. Dynes and was named after Vienna, Austria. The area was settled by Scotch-Irish and Dutch settlers from Kentucky, Virginia and North Carolina. South Vienna was and still is a farming community with approximately 385 residents.

Dynes Memorial Park has eight acres and offers a covered picnic area, playground and two baseball fields. The annual Corn Festival is held on the weekend after Labor Day for three days and has games, a parade, corn-eating contests as well as plenty of food.

There are a few local stores and restaurants in the village including a convenience store. A Walmart Supercenter is a short drive away. More shopping opportunities are available to the east in Springfield, Ohio.

For those seeking a small-town life, there are homes of various sizes – both old and new – are found in the area. Many homes have acreage.

South Vienna

Interstate 70 runs close to the village. State Routes 54 and 40 bisect the area.

Hospitals within a 30-mile radius include Children’s Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital, all in downtown Dayton.

Enon, which means abundance of springs, is the home of the second largest conical mound in Ohio. It’s situated in the middle of downtown on an old Indian trail, which ran between the Indian Villages of Old Piqua and Old Chillicothe. Settlers came to the area in the late 1700s and the town was incorporated in 1850 and there are now 2,500 residents .

Enon residents display a keen interest in history with an active Community Historical Society. The Indian Mound Library has one of the most active circulation desks in the county. 

There are several parks in Enon. 'Enon Park' has 12 acres that includes a playground area and three shelter houses. 'Galloway Park' features a soccer field, shelter house and a playground area. ' Settlers Park' is highlighted with a public gazebo.

Nationally known Northwest Trader is located in Enon and is the foremost supplier of finished capotes, capote kits and blankets anywhere especially for theatre usage. Local Enon merchants provide general merchandise and services conveniently located for residents. 

Located 20 minutes away in Beavercreek, the Mall at Fairfield Commons contains five department stores and 130 franchise clothing, shoe and specialty stores. Another option for shopping is to head into Springfield where there are several shopping plazas and retail centers.

Enon is 30 minutes northeast of Dayton, in Clark County. Escaping from the city hustle and bustle and finding more time to enjoy rural pursuits is why many residents continue to make Enon their home, and it's what entices new residents to the area. Affordable bungalows, modest single-family dwellings and ranch style homes make up the majority of home styles. New home construction is found near the interstate on the outskirts of town.

Enon’s nearest interstate is I-70, a few minutes outside town. The village is located seven and one-half miles southwest of Springfield, Ohio.

Springfield Regional Medical Center and the Ohio Valley Medical Center service the area. The Dayton Children’s Hospital is a short drive from Medway. Good Samaritan Health Center is located in Huber Heights.Recreation

The village of North Hampton was established in 1829.  There was 450 residents.

Donnels Creek runs through the village. George Rogers Clark Park is located in Springfield and has 5 miles of nature trails  along with 250 acres of green space. The lake is available for boating and fishing. This park is the host site of many annual events including a Fishing Derby and a 5k run. For history buffs, The Battle of Peckuwe historical battle site is near the George Rogers Clark Park where you find many memorial markers. Buck Creek National Park is located to the northeast of North Hampton and offers trails, camping and hunting.

There are a few small shops and restaurants in North Hampton including the Hampton Grill and Hampton Station. The Upper Valley Mall in Springfield offers over 75 shops and restaurants and is anchored by Sears. Kohls is also available in Springfield.

Homes of various sizes and prices are available in North Hampton. There are also land and lots available. Older homes as well as newly built homes in subdivisions are available.

North Hampton

State Route 41 bisects North Hampton. Interstate 70 is the closest highway to the village. Dayton International Airport services the region.

The 'Heritage Center' located in downtown Springfield offers a glimpse into the town’s rich history. The 'Springfield Museum of Art', (Ohio’s only Smithsonian-affiliated museum), 'Springfield Symphony', 'Clark State Performing Arts Center', 'Ohio Lyric Theatre' and the 'Springfield Arts Council' provide a taste of culture. 

The 'National Trails Park and Recreation District' manages over 1,200 acres of parks in the area. The 'Little Miami Scenic Trail' offers a paved rail/trail that reaches from the Buck Creek Scenic Trailhead in Springfield to south in Cincinnati. There are several state parks near Springfield: Buck Creek, John Bryan, Clifton Gorge and Glen Helen Nature Preserve. 

There are several golf courses through Springfield. Rocky Lakes Golf Course has nine holes, Reid Memorial Park offers 36 holes, Locust Hills has a 27-hole course. Springfield is home to two country clubs, Northwood Hills and Springfield Country Club. 

The 'Hartman Rock Garden' features over 250,000 stones that are eclectically displayed and is open to the public. The annual 'Clark County Fair' is the the second largest fair in Ohio.

Numerous neighborhood retail centers serve residents’ daily needs including the North Bechtel Plaza, Springfield Plaza, Southern Village Shopping Center, and Circus Shopping Center. 

Springfield is also home to one of America’s top flea markets, the Springfield Antiques Show and Flea Market and the show’s semi-annual “extravaganza” where one can find 2,000 vendors and 20,000 customers. Additionally, there are several area flea markets for collectible and vintage finds.

Approximately 45 miles west of Columbus and 25 miles northeast of Dayton on the banks of the Mad River near Clark Lake and the Clarence J. Brown Reservoir in Clark County, Springfield is the county seat. The city is perhaps best known as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of agricultural equipment as the home of International Harvester Company (now known as Navistar International). The 4-H Club movement had its beginnings in Springfield. As one of Dayton’s earliest outlying settlements, many different periods of growth have contributed to the varied cultures and economic levels. 

Houses from the last century survive with newer homes. Many of the older Victorian dwellings are being artfully and carefully restored by young artisans. You must see the older homes found in the South Fountain Historic District. The historic Westcott House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and features Wright’s prairie-style, low-pitched roof home style – the only one of its kind in Ohio. You can also find many newer homes of brick and frame, more modest in size and price. 

Springfield is home to Wittenberg University, a private, four-year liberal arts college offering more than 70 majors and special programs.
