Hartwell, OH Community Information
Introduction

Located in the Millcreek Valley, Hartwell is one of Cincinnati's northern most neighborhoods within city limits with 4,500 residents.

Summary

Hartwell was settled in 1791 and grew with the completion of the Miami Canal that delivered goods to the area. It was known for its lush farmland that was owned by wealthy landowners. With the construction of the railway system, more people moved to Hartwell to live and work and it was incorporated with Cincinnati in 1912. Today, Hartwell offers its residents many home styles from modest cape cods, to Sears Kit and Craftsman-style homes, to larger Victorian residences.

Transportation

Centrally located in Cincinnati, Hartwell has easy access to all directions of the city. Interstate 75 and Ronald Reagan Highway are minutes away to take one north, south, east or west. The city's bus service is available in this neighborhood with a route to downtown.

Hospitals

The Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care is located in Hartwell on Galbraith Road. All of Cincinnati's finest hospitals are within a 10-15 minute drive via the highway, including Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Shopping

Hartwell Recreation Center has a pool, fitness classes and space for group meetings. The Caldwell Nature Center and Sprayground offers 3.5 miles of trails as well as a small amphitheater, and a water spray area for children. The Hartwell Golf Club is available for all ages and there are several smaller playgrounds in the neighborhood. The Hamilton County Fairground is nearby to be enjoyed each summer. Centennial Barn offers yoga classes as well as massage therapy and personal growth classes.
