Green Township, OH Community Information

Green Township is named after Nathaniel Green, a General in the Revolutionary War.

Green Township wraps around the northwest edge of Hamilton County, bordering the city of Cincinnati’s western border. The township, founded in 1809 is the second largest township in Ohio. It includes the communities of Bridgetown, Covedale, Dent, Mack, Monfort Heights, and White Oak. More than 55,000 residents call the 28 miles of gently rolling hills home. Just about a third of the township is still heavily forested with small family owner farms next door to spacious suburban developments.

I-74 and I-275 provide quick interstate access to the township. Numerous major intersections cross Green Township, including Bridgetown, Harrison, Werk and North Bend Roads.

Green Township Fire and EMS provide services to the area. Mercy Health West Hospital is located in the area with a wide variety of medical services; many other hospitals are a few minutes drive away.

Green Township has ample shopping destinations to meet your needs from big-box stores, mom-and-pop groceries, to specialty stores. Northgate Mall is a mere 15 minutes drive. In Green Township, as with much of western Hamilton County, you’ll find numerous ‘pony keg’ drive-thru beer/wine stands unique to this area, remnants of the area’s German beer heritage.

The township is rich is parkland with five distinctly different parks ranging from sports to historical destinations. The nearby Mt. Airy Forest provides 1500 acres of picnicking, hiking, horseback trails, ski routes and never-ending natural beauty. Just minutes from downtown Cincinnati’s sports and cultural life, Green Township provides the alternatives of suburban living with all the amenities of big-city life.
