Vevay is a historic river town settled in 1802 by Swiss immigrants relocating from Vevey, Switzerland.
The new settlers planted one of their favorite crops, grapes, and established the first commercial winery in the United States. Although Vevay is the largest town and county seat of Switzerland County, only 1700 people call the small 1.5-mile square town home.
60 minutes downriver from Cincinnati, Vevay is located at the junction of St. Rt. 56 and St. Rt. 156.

Downtown Vevay offers antique, collectibles, crafts and gift shops along with distinctive restaurants. Danner's Hardware is the oldest business still operating on the same site in Indiana with daily tours to see the original safe and memorabilia. Watching the river is a popular pastime in all these river towns for both locals and tourists. Located just a few minutes out of town on St. Rt. 156, Markland Dam Park provides picnic shelters, playgrounds, baseball fields and access to fishing.
