About Cold Spring
Introduction
Cold Spring acquired its name from a fresh, cold water spring that still flows underground.There are 5,900 residents. Rumor is that Daniel Boone had 500 acres in the area in return for his service in the Revolutionary War. He sold the land in 1785. The area was then settled around 1789.
Summary
Cold Spring is the home of the National Headquarters of the Disabled American Veterans, a charity that provides support to veterans and their families. Crestview is a small, residential community tucked away behind Cold Spring, and was originally developed for returning G.l.’s after World War II. Cold Spring has seen steady growth due to the accessibility to U.S. 27 and I-471 and the proximity of Northern Kentucky University. The AA Highway brings even more growth potential to these areas. New subdivisions and condominium communities in varying price ranges are available. Along with these growth areas come commercial facilities to meet the needs of the local inhabitants. Shopping centers, office complexes and land-use are booming.
Transportation
Public transportation is by TANK, the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky. US 27 and I-471 lead to this growing residential area. Route 1998 connects US 27 to Route 8. Cold Spring is located eight miles from Cincinnati, Ohio. Interstates I-71/75, I-275 and I-471 access near the area. The city is about 16 miles from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
Hospitals
St. Elizabeth East is located in Fort Thomas and provides medical help for this area.
Shopping
The County Square shopping center offers a major food store and franchise clothing and shoe stores. Local merchants provide general merchandise and services. There are many restaurants available in Cold Spring.

There are several public parks to enjoy in Cold Spring: The "Municipal Park" has a picnic grove, ball field, playground, volleyball and horseshoe courts. "Friendship Park" has several ball and soccer fields, playground, picnic area, volleyball, basketball and horseshoe courts as well as walking and nature trails. "Apple Orchard Park" has walking trails, a play area and a picnic area. "Patriotic Park" has a picnic shelter, play area and a basketball court." Sunshine Park" also features a play area and a picnic shelter.
The community hosts events throughout the year, with many of them occurring at the Municipal Park.
