About Corinth
Introduction
The 1930 Corinth basketball team not only won the Kentucky State Championship, but also placed third in the nation at the national tournament later that year.
Summary
Corinth sits on the seven hills in the extreme southern end in Grant County extending into Harrison and Scott counties. The village originally began as a station on the Lexington-Covington stagecoach line and later was used on the rail line operated by the Cincinnati and Southern Railway. Corinth’s original name was Mullinixville, named for the railway station’s agent. Life in Grant County and Corinth is rich in community life and southern hospitality. The village’s rolling hills and winding country roads serve as the backdrop for life lived at a slower pace. There about 180 residents in the area.
Transportation
I-75 is the major artery through Grant County; here it’s better known as the Gordon True Highway. Dixie Highway and Ky. Rt. 330 (Corinth Road) link Corinth to surrounding villages. The Greater Cincinnati International Airport provides air transport to Grant County residents.
Hospitals
Georgetown Community Hospital in nearby Georgetown, just south of Corinth is the closest acute care hospital. St. Elizabeth Grant County – in nearby Williamstown – is also nearby.
Shopping
Most of your shopping will be in nearby Williamstown or Georgetown; more in-depth shopping trips will probably be to Lexington to the south.
Recreation
Corinth Lake is a 100-acre fishing lake nestled outside the village. The 350-acre Williamstown Lake – is the center of recreational life for most residents and popular with boaters and fishermen – is just minutes away. The Corinth Community Center is a recreational park that includes basketball, volleyball, horse shoes, soccer and a playground.
