The village was created in November 1852 under the original name of New Columbia, and changed to the now Pleasant Plain in 1860.

With just over 150 residents, you’re bound to know everyone in the village of Pleasant Plain. Flat and fertile, the village is located in south central Harlan Township, Warren County, near the border with Clermont County. Farming has been Pleasant Plain’s history and continues even today to be the main occupation of residents. While the rest of Warren County explodes with development and subdivisions springing up seemingly overnight, residents of Pleasant Plain continue to enjoy the quite, peaceful rural life the village has been known for.
28 miles northeast of Cincinnati, Pleasant Plain’s primary transportation routes are St. Rt. 132 and 28. Cincinnati Lunken Airport is the closest municipal airport, and the Greater Cincinnati International Airport is roughly a 45 minute drive.
Harlan Township EMS provides service to the area’s residents. A few minutes south on I-71 is Bethesda North Hospital, one of the area’s busiest hospitals. The recently opened Bethesda Medical Center at Arrow Springs to the northwest of the village offers the region state-of-the-art outpatient medical care, including 24-hour emergency services and comprehensive diagnostic testing. Children’s Hospital Medical Center offers a regional campus just a short drive in nearby Mason.
Shoppers head to the grocery and convenience stores in nearby Loveland or Blanchester. For a major shopping mall you’ll have to jump in the car for a drive either to Lebanon, Eastgate Mall or Deerfield Town Center.
Just a short drive from the village, several highly ranked golf courses including Eagles Nest, O’Bannon Creek, and Deer Track keep golfers busy. Stonelick State Park offers 1000+ acres of quiet retreat for visitors. The still waters of the lake and stately woodlands provide the setting for a host of outdoor recreational pursuits including the site of the richest fossil deposits in the state.
