Kettering has received the National Gold Medal Award for one of the best parks in the nation among comparable cities. Over 400 acres of open space including 21 neighborhood and community-sized parks offer tennis, baseball, football, soccer, fitness trails, water and ponds and a BMX bike track. Civic Commons includes the Fraze Pavilion, host to numerous outdoor concerts. More activities take place inside the Kettering Recreation Complex, a spectacular 145,000-foot facility that includes its own indoor ice rink, huge swimming pool space, gym, indoor walk/run track, classes and more. The Water Raves Water Park is a fun environment for all water enthusiasts.
The Cultural Arts Division also operates Rosewood Arts Centre offering classes in music, theatre, dance, painting and other fine arts. Rosewood also operates an art gallery, and a children's theatre, and hosts other performing arts groups.
Fraze Pavilion has many activities happening during warmer months including concerts and festivals. Yearly events include Art on the Commons (with over 100 artisans) and The Taste with food samples from local restaurants.
