What are the "Sister" houses? Imagine yourself as a wealthy Dayton parent of two lovely daughters in 1866. What do you get them for wedding presents. How about two identical houses side by side in the Dayton's newest suburb (Vinegar Hill; now known as St. Anne's Hill). That may be what transpired 150+ years ago. Or maybe not? Never the less, the Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles can be seen in these two of a kind homes. Only one is available today, so if you have two daughters, you're out of luck. But, if you appreciate authenticity and historic integrity, you ARE in luck. I won't waste words trying to describe this home. I'll let the pictures and your visit tell that story.
Downtown Dayton has set about revitalizing itself by adding different amenities such as Schuster Center for the Performing Arts; Fifth Third Field – home of the Dayton Dragons; Riverscape – a beautifully landscaped performing venue; as well as a pedestrian and bike friendly starting point that leads to hundreds of miles of bike paths and trails. Additionally, lots of housing has been added such as townhouses, lofts and rental options. If urban is your interest, downtown Dayton is where its at with restaurants, entertainment, brew pubs, banks and other retail options – and all within walking distance. More than 300 performances occur in downtown Dayton every year.
