Like many of Ohio's small towns, the coming of the railroad shaped the Trotwood community. The historic Trotwood Depot has been renovated and stands as a reminder of the town's past.


Located approximately six miles northwest of Dayton in Montgomery County, Trotwood is a community of 31,000 that can be described in three words -Town and Country. Trotwood has many beautiful neighborhoods with active neighborhood associations. In addition, housing options include an array of affordable single family and duplex models, most of which were built in the late 1970's and early 1980's. RTA provides bus transportation connecting Trotwood with the downtown Dayton area.


Hospitals within a 10-mile radius include Children's Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.

The city offers a wide variety of leisure facilities and opportunities to encourage heath and fitness, cultural enrichment and learning. The city offers nine park and recreation areas for those who enjoy vigorous activities, there are ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, swimming pools, fishing lakes and an in-line skating court. And for those who desire quieter activities, Trotwood has miles of biking/ waking trails and acres of green space that meander throughout the city. Within Trotwood lies Sycamore State Park, located in both Trotwood and Ferry Townships, offers 2,300 acres of hiking trails, picnic areas, horse trails, fishing lakes, camping grounds and more. The park is a winter haven for sledders, skaters, snowmobilers, and cross-country skiers. For golf enthusiasts, Larch Tree offers an 18-hole golf course.
