About Centerville

Introduction

Centerville has the largest collection of early stone houses in the state of Ohio, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was founded in 1796 and is one of the oldest communities in Ohio. The heart of the city is designated as an architectural preservation district to maintain the historic heritage.

Summary

Eight miles southeast of Dayton straddling the county line between Montgomery and Greene Counties, Centerville is a busy suburban hub of shopping, business and recreation. This active community offers housing ranging from exclusive, custom-built homes to charming older neighborhoods. Single-family homes, townhouses and apartments of almost every design provide choices for all. A thriving enclave of retail shops, restaurants, professional and community offices and unique homes form the Architectural Preservation District in the historic downtown.

Transportation

Centerville is close to both I-75 and I-675. State Routes 48 and 725 run through Centerville. RTA provides public transportation.

Hospitals

Three community hospitals are nearby: Southview Hospital, Sycamore Hospital and Miami Valley Hospital in Centerville. Dayton Children's Hospital services the area.

Shopping

The Dayton Mall is located in Centerville. The mall has four anchor stores, over 120 specialty shops and restaurants. Many neighborhood shops provide for daily purchases, and a multitude of fast food restaurants and movie theaters are nearby. Five major shopping centers and more than 500 retail outlets are available to residents.

Recreation

Centerville is a scenic community with 43 parks and more than 900 acres. Golfers hit the course at the 27-hole championship level golf course at Yankee Trace Golf Club. The Washington Township Recreation Center has 50,000 square feet and includes two indoor swimming pools.
