Lifestyle in Spring Grove, OH

Spring Grove Village (former known as Winton Place) is located in the Mill Creek valley off of Interstate 75. This community has an active community council, youth center and business association. There are 15 churches of 9 different denominations in this neighborhood.
Summary
The canal and railroad town was incorporated in 1892 as The Mill Creek Township Farm and Spring Grove and later annexed with Cincinnati in 1903. In 2007, the residents voted to change its name from Winton Place to Spring Grove Village in honor of the nationally recognized Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum – the second largest cemetery in the U.S. There are many diverse styles of older homes found in this neighborhood. Some of them were designed by Samuel Hannaford (who designed Cincinnati’s Music Hall, City Hall, the Observatory and Cincinnatian Hotel, to name a few.) Hannford built his personal residence in Spring Grove on Derby Avenue. There are quite a few buildings now on the National Historic Register. The area offers attractive and affordable housing for its residents.
Transportation
Spring Grove has easy access to Interstate 75 for north and south travel. It is located 10 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. Connections to I-74, I-71, and I-275 make traveling throughout Cincinnati a 15-minute drive.
Hospitals
Cincinnati’s area hospitals, including Bethesda North, Christ, Good Samaritan, Children’s Hospital Medical Center and University hospitals are all within 10 to 15 minutes by car.
Shopping
Kenwood Towne Centre is a 15 to 20-minute drive, offering hundreds of national brand stores. In the area, there are a few smaller shops and restaurants.
Recreation
Spring Grove has two community gardens in the neighborhood. The Winton Place Youth Center offers sports and educational programs for children 5-15 years old. There are several parks, including Winton Commons and Salway Park. Winton Commons Park offers a larger swimming pool and a playground. Hannaford Park has a hilltop view of the Mill Creek Valley. A bicycle lane along Spring Grove Avenue is in the planning stages.
