Wayne Township

Like its namesake General Anthony Wayne, Wayne Township harkens back to another time, a time of small family-owned businesses, markets, grocery stores and hardware stores. Here, Long's Donuts are handmade every morning by Mr. Long himself, and residents and campers line up outside his door for what are known to locals and a few lucky visitors as "the best donuts around".

The village of Newtonsville and the areas of Edenton, Woodville and Modest comprise Wayne Township, which borders Warren, Stonelick and Jackson Townships. This rural area features an abundance of agriculture, especially grain farming. Wayne Township manages to maintain a small-town atmosphere while enjoying steady growth. A strong sense of community and pride binds its residents to their land and to each other; many of the farms have been passed down through generations.
State Routes 131 and 133 connect Wayne Township to its neighbors. I-71 is 30 minutes away. Downtown Cincinnati is a 30 to 40 minute drive. The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is approximately an hour's drive. The Clermont County Cart Service offers door-to-door transportation anywhere within the county. Adults pay $3, high school students, $2, and children, the handicapped and elderly patrons pay $1.50. Reservations must be made by phone by 11 AM the day before the service is needed.
Clermont Mercy Hospital is 15 to 25 minutes from most parts of Wayne Township, though the Woodville area of the township is closer to Clinton Memorial in Wilmington. Bethesda North is about 25 minutes away. In addition, there are medical centers in nearby Goshen, Miami Township and Eastgate.
Eastgate Mall is the closest mall, offering major department stores and a number of other chain and specialty stores. For restaurants and most shopping, Wayne Township residents generally travel to Miami Township, Eastgate and Blanchester.
The Stonelick Lake Park is located in Wayne Township. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has been stocking the lake with fish, making popular bass fishing contests possible. In addition, the park offers hunting, camping, a beach area for swimming and hiking and biking trails. The Clermont Northeastern Athletic Association is very active, and students and residents have access to the baseball, soccer and football fields located behind the high school. There is also a YMCA located in nearby Batavia.
