Silverton is a proud, enterprising village with a heritage that dates back to days shortly after the Revolutionary War. The atmosphere is still antique, but the spirit is progressive in every way. The area was settled in 1809 as a farming community with a railroad stop. Some notable Silverton residents include: Heisman Trophy winner, Roger Staubach; Fortune 500 CEO Carl Lindner; MLB Hall of Fame member and Cincinnati Reds Shortstop, Barry Larkin; and Olympian George Quigley. Silverton now has 4,800 residents.
