Tate Township

It is clear from its designation as a dry township that this close-knit community is concerned about its residents. Many age groups create an attractive diversity, and it is not unusual to find residents who grew up in the township and still live close to their parents.

Summary
The community feeling was further solidified by the recent celebration of the village bicentennial. Tate Township is comprised only of the village of Bethel and the surrounding area. It borders Monroe and Washington Townships. The majority of the land is flat farmland and residential areas, though Bethel's main street, Plane Street, has a movie theater and a printing shop.
Transportation
State Route 125 serves Tate Township. Downtown Cincinnati is 30 to 40 minutes away, and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is 45 minutes to an hour's drive. The Clermont County Cart Service offers door-to-door transportation anywhere within the county. Adults pay $3, high school students, $2, and children, the handicapped and elderly patrons pay $1.50. Reservations must be made by phone by 11 AM the day before the service is needed.
Hospitals
Clermont Mercy is the closest hospital to Tate Township. There are also doctors' offices in Tate Township, including several general practitioners, dentists, eye doctors and a chiropractor.
Shopping
Plane Street offers most of Tate Township's shopping. There is a hardware store and grocery store in the township, but residents must travel to the Eastgate area for larger stores and the Eastgate Mall.
Recreation
East Fork Lake, which offers a boat ramp, a beach, a swimming area, and a picnic area, is only five minutes from Tate Township. Within the township, Edmund Burke Park provides a sheltered picnic area, a play area for children, and a stage. The annual Wagonmasters parade showcases the township's tractors. There are ballfields by the middle school and high school, and additional softball, soccer and football fields and tennis courts at the high school. The Community Center is relatively small, functioning primarily as a senior center. The 18-hole Friendly Meadows golf course is 10-15 minutes outside the township. Swimmers enjoy the private Bethel Swim club. There are a number of service clubs and lodges in Tate Township, including a Lions Club, the Knights of Pythias and the Masons.
