There are almost 14,000 residents of Harrison Township and within the township is the city of Harrison, named for the ninth U.S. President, William Henry Harrison. The most “famous visitor” to Harrison Township may have been Confederate General John Hunt Morgan. In July of 1863 Morgan’s Raiders travelled through Harrison on their way to their eventual capture near Cincinnati.
On Wednesdays, a short drive up US 52 brings residents of Harrison Township to Indiana’s White’s Farm, a “destination” site of one of the most unique and comprehensive flea markets and home of the weekly “miscellaneous sale”. White’s Farm is the site of one of the few remaining livestock auctions, conducted by the fourth-generation White family auctioneer. Or one may prefer to drive along I-74 toward Cincinnati and enjoy its many shopping and dining opportunities.
The River City West Sports Complex offers softball leagues during warmer months. And, for the water sports fan, Brookville Lake is a short drive in the country.
Along with the golf course at Miami Whitewater Forrest, Grand Oaks and Rolling Hills offer the golf enthusiast ample opportunities.
History buffs may visit the home of Ohio’s fifth Governor Othneil Looker. Harrison Village Park is the final resting place for some Revolutionary War veterans. Governor Bebb Park is a quaint preserve just across the line in Butler County and features a pioneer village.
