Groesbeck was originally founded as West Union but changed its name in 1857 when it discovered another West Union already existed in Ohio. (The area was originally named for the first resident, Charles West.) In November 2007, Businessweek magazine named this community among the best 50 places to raise children.

Transportation
I-275 transports one around the outer loop of Cincinnati with a connection to I-75 for north and south travel. Ronald Reagan Highway connects east and west travel. It is a 15-minute drive to downtown Cincinnati. Cincinnati buses service the area.

All seven of Cincinnati’s finest hospitals are within a 15-minute drive via the interstate, including Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, Christ Hospital and University Hospital. Mercy Hospital is within a 10-minute drive.
