Deerfield Township

Formed in 1803, the year Ohio became a state, Deerfield Township got its name from the large numbers of deer that stopped at local “deer licks”, or salt licks. In the 1800s the area was a crossroad for commerce. William Mason (a veteran from the Revolutionary War) purchased land in 1815. The town of Mason was later named after him.

Summary
Deerfield Township lies in the southwestern portion of Warren County and borders Butler and Hamilton Counties. Home to 37,000 residents and almost 500 businesses, Deerfield Township is exploding with growth, but remains a residential community with an emphasis on single-family homes. At 19 square miles, Deerfield is home to the large cities of Landen, Maineville, and Sharonville as well as small communities like Kings Mills and 20 Mile Stand. The township has the largest business base in Warren County.
Transportation
Located 18 miles northeast from downtown Cincinnati, Deerfield Township lies at the intersection of busy I-71 and Fields Ertel Rd. The major connector through the township is Mason-Montgomery Rd. I-275 located just two minutes away offers another access to this busy community. A trip to the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport depending on traffic flow averages 40 minutes to an hour.
Hospitals
UC Health West Chester Hospital is located 10-minutes away and is a full-service facility. Bethesda North Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center minutes away, located a few miles southeast of Deerfield. The Children’s Hospital Medical Center Liberty Campus is located along I-75 and SR 129 and offers 24/7 emergency care, urgent care as well as other pediatric services. Children’s Hospital Medical Center also operates Outpatient Mason in Deerfield, offering a wide range of diagnostic testing, clinics, MRI services and is an urgent care center as well. The Deerfield Township Fire Rescue Department provides 24-hour fire and medical services.
Shopping
The Deerfield Towne Centre is a 420,000-square-foot lifestyle center for your shopping pleasure with anchors stores including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Whole Foods, Bed Bath & Beyond, BuyBuy Baby and Ashley Furniture as well as more than 60 specialty stores and restaurants. Arbor Square has a 70,000 square foot Kroger store along with several retail stores.

Liberty Center in nearby Liberty Township features many stores and restaurants and is only 10-minutes away.

Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe, Ohio, is a short 15-minute drive with hundreds of stores to browse and shop.

Recreation
Nearly 400 acres of park and recreation areas cover Deerfield Township with six busy parks offering amenities for everyone-athletic fields, picnic shelters, a fishing lake, a dog run, walking trails, playgrounds and a Veterans Memorial Garden. Parks include: Fleckensterin, Kingswood Park, Carter Park, Cottell Park Deerfield Honor Veterans Park, Roberts Park, Schappacher Park, as well as several community pocket parks. Deerfield Township residents enjoy movies in the park during the summer.

Just minutes away are Paramount’s Kings Island Amusement Park, the Beach Waterpark and numerous other activities making Deerfield as busy as you want it to be. Also close by in Mason, Ohio is the annual Western & Southern Open featuring the best tennis players from around the world.

The community arts series is popular and residents enjoy Shakespeare in the Park, orchestras and other arts. There is an annual tree-lighting ceremony, FallFair Arts Festival, Touch-A-Truck, and community book swap. If gardening is of interest, a community garden plot is available at Kingswood Park.

There are numerous athletic groups, from slow pitch baseball, soccer and your baseball. Deerfield Township sponsors the Powder Keg 5k Trail Run, Panerathon 10k Run and 5k Walk/Run as well as a Thanksgiving Race.
