The Glendale Historic District contains within its boundaries what is believed to be the oldest planned subdivision village in America. Perhaps this is why the community has resisted change so staunchly and so proudly.

The village of Glendale has enjoyed a reputation for aristocratic beauty since its incorporation in 1855. Approximately 2700 residents enjoy small town living in an area of approximately one square mile, including 392 acres designated a Historic Landmark by the Department of the Interior. Glendale is believed to be America's oldest subdivision village laid out in a curvilinear plan according to topography There is an activities center in the historic village square, and amenities include some of Greater Cincinnati's finest restaurants and chic shops. The sense of magic here is created in a park-like setting of winding lanes, still lighted by old style gas lamps. Glendale is designated a "Tree City U.S.A." Trees with as many years as the village itself still surround the majestic homes. Newer developments have been designed to harmonize with the historic ambiance. In every neighborhood there is a sense of leisure and serenity, of room enough and time enough for gracious living.
Transportation
One part of Glendale joins I-75 which means that most Millcreek Valley Industries can be reached in 15 minutes or less. I-275 is within three minutes of Glendale. Getting to downtown Cincinnati requires about 20 minutes, downtown Hamilton about 20. There is bus service every other hour to both Cincinnati and Hamilton.
Hospitals
Bethesda North and Mercy Hospital are within 15 minutes of Glendale. Good Samaritan, Christ, Mercy Franciscan-Mt. Airy, and others are within 25 minutes. Mercy South on Mack Road is only 10 minutes away.
Shopping
Most everyday shopping can be done right in the village. Tri-County Mall is a mile away, with department stores, various shops, movie theaters, restaurants, banks and automobile agencies. Within 15 minutes are the Forest Fair Mall and Kenwood Towne Centre, complete with designer shops.
Recreation
Glendale prides itself on its parks and trees. There are several parks and greenbelts, with baseball diamonds, soccer fields and tennis courts, in addition to the Princeton High School facilities at the Glendale boundary. The Glendale Lyceum (private) offers tennis, paddle tennis, swimming and a variety of social, cultural and civic activities. Queen City Racquet Club (private) is one block from Glendale, and offers tennis, swimming, basketball and fitness facilities. Public golf courses are located in nearby Glenview, Winton Woods and Sharon Woods parks.
