Summary
A mostly rural township located in the northeast part of Warren County, it includes the Village of Waynesville, Caesar Creek State Park, Caesar Creek Wilderness Area, and part of the Little Miami River and Little Miami Bike Trail. The Village of Waynesville is noted for its antiques (the “Antique Capital of the Midwest”) and annual Sauerkraut Festival. Another point of interest located just south of Waynesville is the Corwin M. Nixon covered bridge, spanning the Little Miami River.
Transportation
To the west of the township is I-75 and to the east is I-71. Through the center of the township running east to west is State Route 73 and northeast to southwest is US Route 42.
Hospitals
Miami Valley Hospital South with a Level 1 Trauma Center and Home Town Urgent Care serve the area.
Shopping
Known as the Antique Capital of the Midwest, Waynesville is the place to shop. Located a few miles away are Dayton Shopping Mall, Cross Pointe Shopping Center in Centerville and Sugar Bell Shopping Center in nearby Bellbrook.
Recreation
Caesar Creek State Park with its 2,830-acre lake provides camping, equestrian camping, boating, hiking, fishing, swimming, and hunting in-season in the adjacent Caesar Creek Wilderness area. Canoeing and fishing can also be found along the Little Miami River and the Little Miami Bike Trail runs through eastern Wayne Township.
