Introduction

The first settlers in Milford arrived in 1796 with a 1000-acre land grant from the Revolutionary War. The name “Milford” stems from being the first safe “ford” to arrive at a mill north of the Ohio River. In 1982 Milford became a city.

Transportation

Milford is served by I-275 which provides freeway driving to all parts of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Driving time to Downtown Cincinnati is 25 minutes. Queen City Metro bus service provides commuter service between Milford and downtown Cincinnati on a daily schedule except for Sunday.

Hospitals

Mercy Health Anderson Hospital is 20-minutes away. Bethesda North in Montgomery is 10 minutes away and is a trauma III facility. Mercy Health Clermont Hospital in Batavia is 25 minutes away. Cincinnati hospitals also serve the Milford area and include: University Hospital, Children’s Hospital Medical Center, The Christ Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.

Shopping

Historic Milford has many local shops and restaurants to enjoy in a “hometown” setting. From antiquing to speciality gifts to a delightful meal at an open-air patio, residents enjoy the charm that Old Milford offers.

There are also various shops and services throughout the Milford area. Additionally, Kenwood Towne Centre is 15 minutes away and Eastgate Mall is a 10-minute drive via I-275.

Recreation

The village maintains three municipal parks which include lighted baseball diamonds. Activities for youth include community softball and baseball, Little League baseball, Knothole baseball, Pee Wee football, basketball and soccer programs. Miami Hills Swim Club is private and offers tennis.

The Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail is a popular place to get some exercise. Bike, walk or run along this long trail. Canoe enthusiasts from all over Southern Ohio find a haven in the Little Miami River and anglers report excellent game fishing.

Many public and private golf courses throughout the area provide hours of pleasure for the avid golfer. Chapters of most service clubs and lodges can be found in the village. Stonelick State Park is a 25-minute drive and has swimming and boating.

Milford hosts many community events and throughout the year, including an Easter Extravaganza, Hometown Holidays in November, Bikes in Bloom, Second Saturday Music Series, Frontier Days Parade (a three-day festival in early June), Sparks in the Park, Movies on the Miami, Makers Market on Main Street in May and Street Eats (which features 30 food trucks from all over the tri-state area, music and fireworks in early August). The Greater Milford Area Historical Society puts on their annual Art Affaire in downtown Milford with over 110 artists booths in late September.
