The charm and potential of this lovely little community is suddenly being rediscovered. There's a sense of progress in the air.
Because Springdale is at the very center of exciting new expansion programs, it seems to have a dual personality. Within its borders is southern Ohio's largest and most elaborate shopping, commercial service complex outside of downtown Cincinnati. Located harmoniously nearby, you'll find neighborhoods of older and newly-built homes. Plans have been carefully worked out to see that industrial and residential growth has been orderly. Springdale residents are proud of the area's school system, recreational center and are thoughtfully working to preserve its rural flavor.
The Ohio Bus Lines and Queen City Metro Bus service serve Springdale with reliable schedules, more frequent, of course, during the rush hours. The intersection of I-75 and I-275 is nearby. I-75 runs to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to the south; I-275 connects with I-74 to the west and I-71 to the east.
Mercy Hospital South is on Mack Road in neighboring Fairfield and is a 5-10 minute drive for Springdale residents. I-275 east makes Bethesda North Hospital easily accessible within 20 minutes and Mercy Hospital North in Hamilton is also approximately 20 minutes away. Cincinnati's other fine hospitals, including Children's Hospital, are approximately 25-30 minutes to the south.
Springdale offers a shopper's paradise. The large Tri-County Mall has three major department stores: Sears, Macy's, and Dillard's. Other shopping areas offer several discount stores, an abundance of specialty shops, furniture stores, day and night banks and automobile dealerships. Cincinnati Mills and Kenwood Towne Centre, complete with designer shops, are within 15 minutes. Hotel/motel facilities and many fine restaurants can be found locally.
The Springdale Community Center is the heart of activity for Springdale residents, offering a swimming pool, tennis courts, racquetball courts, sand volleyball courts, organized sports for children and adults, a sauna and Nautilus equipment. Senior citizens, women's clubs, Jaycees and many other community groups and organizations meet regularly at the center, making it easy for the newcomer to make new friends in the community. There are four small community parks also in Springdale. Sharon Woods and Winton Woods, county parks with picnic, camping, golfing and other recreational facilities, are each about 10 minutes away. Glenview, an 18-hole city golf course, borders Glendale, and General Electric's Company Park, with its 9-hole golf course, is located in Springdale. The Crosley and Gross YMCA's are 15 minutes away. Right in Springdale is Princeton Bowl, and Springdale Cinemas. Roller skating and ice skating rinks are 5-10 minutes from Springdale.
