Springfield Township

About Springfield Township

Over 36,000 residents call Springfield Township home. In the 1600s, the area was settled by the Moundbuilder Indians followed by the Algonquin Tribe and Iroquois. During the late 1700s, pioneers came to settle in the area. Finneytown was settled in 1800.

The township consists of neighborhoods including Finneytown, New Burlington Pleasant Run Farms, View Place, Parkview Heights, Edgemont, Glencoe, Golfway, Hollydale, Lexington Heights, West College Hill, Seven Hills, Skyline Acres and Valleydale. Numerous civic and youth organizations are active in the area, and there are five branches of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Springfield Township strikes a nice balance between the close-knit friendliness of its residents and the conveniences of its location within the Greater Cincinnati area.

Springfield Township is 15 minutes north of downtown Cincinnati, just west of I-75. The Ronald Reagan Highway bisects the township, connecting Colerain to the west with Montgomery to the east, and offering easy access to I-275, I-75 and I-71.

Mercy Health-West Hospital, Mercy Health-Fairfield Hospital and the West Chester Hospital are located nearby with their medical services. Springfield Township is also 15-20 minutes from the concentration of hospitals in the Clifton/Mt. Auburn area, which is just to the south off I-75.

Numerous local merchants provide daily necessities. The Tri-County, Northgate Mall, Streets of West Chester, as well as the Kenwood Towne Centre, are within 15- to 20-minute drive.

Springfield Township offers a number of recreational facilities and organizations, including 126 acres of parks. Winton Woods Park, one of the largest parks in the Hamilton County Parks system, is located in Greenhills, just north of the township. This park has a campground, 156-acre lake, two golf courses, working farm as well as horseback-riding center, trails and boat harbor.

The Springfield Township Art and Enrichment Council offers art shows, concerts, classes, and other events throughout the year. This organization shares a facility with the township’s Senior Services.

Residents enjoy events throughout the year including a Daddy Daughter Dance and Mom Prom,.
