About Stonelick Township
Stonelick Township is a quiet conservation area whose residents are determined to protect the rural atmosphere which drew their parents and grandparents. Owensville is the largest village, with a population of 800, and the general areas of Belfast and Stonelick-Williams Corner are recognized within the township though they never grew into villages.
While driving through the township, be sure to enjoy the "Stonelick Covered Bridge" which is a one-lane covered bridge constructed in 1878. It is on the National Register for Historic Places as the last surviving covered bridge in Clermont County and is a beautiful monument for the area.
Stonelick Township is surrounded by the townships of Union, Williamsburg, Jackson, Batavia, Miami and Goshen. The topography is characterized by farmland, predominately corn and soybeans, and woodland situated on a pleasing combination of flat land and rolling hills. In Owensville, both the City Municipal Building and the former inn, which now houses the US Bank, are listed on the National Historic Register. Section 8 housing is available in Owensville.
The township is served by U.S. 50 and State Routes 132 and 131. Downtown Cincinnati is 45 minutes away and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is about 50 minutes away. Public transportation is provided by the Clermont County Cart Service, which offers door-to-door transportation anywhere within the county. Adults pay $3, high school students, $2, and children, the handicapped and elderly patrons pay $1.50. Reservations must by made by phone by 11 AM the day before the service is needed.
Clermont Mercy in Batavia Township is only six miles form Stonelick Township. There are also a couple of dentists in the township, and more doctors easily accessible in nearby Milford and Eastgate.
Owensville is the largest shopping center in the township, providing residents with an insurance agency, a video store, a tanning salon, pizzeria, lumber supply and hardware, car dealerships and three banks. There is also a post office in Owensville. Stonelick-Williams Corner is completely residential, but Belfast offers gas stations, a grocery store and a roller skating rink, a lawn tractor dealer and other small businesses. Eastgate Mall is the nearest mall.
Two interconnected lakes comprise Belfast Fishing Lakes. Pattison Park also provides a small fishing lake and picnic areas and a shelter. Ballfields and tennis courts are located behind Clermont Northeastern High School, and most of the township's sports are organized by the school's active Booster Club. Owensville claims the Clermont County Fairgrounds, as well as a Lions Club and Masonic Lodge. The Owensville Branch Library is located in its namesake.
For those who enjoy golfing, The Golf Course at Stonelick Hills has 18 holes and has been rated as a #2 public course by Golf Digest and a #1 course by Golf Advisors. The course is located at the top of Benton Road and is less than a mile from SR 50.
