Introduction

White Oak was originally nam Saint Jacobs in the 1800s. This close-knit community has become one of the most popular neighborhoods on Cincinnati’s west side.

Summary

Transportation

Cincinnati Metro buses service this area on an hourly schedule, but during morning and evening rush hours, this schedule is accelerated. I-74 bisects this area and I-75 is 15 minutes away. Driving time to downtown Cincinnati is 15 minutes.

Hospitals

Mercy Health West Hospital is just ten minutes away. Good Samaritan, The Christ Hospital, University Hospital and Children’s Hospital Medical Center are 20 minutes away and offer quality medical care.

Shopping

White Oak Shopping Center is in the immediate area to augment the usual retail outlets on the main streets. The Western Hills Plaza, only ten minutes away, is one of Cincinnati's shopping centers with three major department stores plus some 70 other outlets to make up this large complex. The Northgate Mall has four major department stores plus many other outlets in a completely enclosed mall.

Recreation

Most of the area is near or adjoins Mt. Airy Forest, a beautiful 1,500 acre park, operated by the Cincinnati Park Board. Miami-Whitewater County Park, a few minutes west of Monfort Heights has a fine public golf course. The private Clovernook 18-hole golf course is nearby. There is the Orchard Hill private swim club in the immediate area, many knothole and little league baseball teams for youngsters, and several "pay" fishing lakes. The Monfort Heights Civic Club meets one Thursday a month. Public library's West Fork Branch is on West Fork Road in Monfort Heights.
