About Harrison Township

Introduction

There are almost 14,000 residents of Harrison Township and within the township is the city of Harrison, named for the fourth US President, William Henry Harrison. Harrison Village Park is the final resting placed for some Revolutionary War veterans. The most “famous visitor” to Harrison Township may have been Confederate General John Hunt Morgan. In July of 1863 Morgan’s Raiders travelled through Harrison on their way to their eventual capture near Cincinnati. Harrison Township offers quick access to all the modern conveniences, and is the gateway to the wonders and recreation and relaxation opportunities of Indiana!

Summary

Harrison Township was founded in 1873 and still offers rural charm and beauty. Within the metropolitan area of Cincinnati, residents enjoy easy access to the city while living among the green spaces that the township has to offer. One finds all types of homes from large to small in Harrison Township. There are many newly built homes located on beautiful lots in the region.

Transportation

Harrison Township is located on I-74 with close access to I-275 and the Ronald Reagan Highway, Connections to I-71, and I-75 make traveling throughout Cincinnati a 30-45 minute drive. The Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport services the area. The township abuts the State of Indiana.

Hospitals

The closest hospital is Mercy Hospital West located in Cincinnati on North Bend Road. Other area hospitals in Cincinnati, including Bethesda North, Christ, Good Samaritan, Children’s Hospital Medical Center and University hospitals are all within 20-30 minutes by car. Shopping

Harrison offers many local and nationally branded stores and restaurants throughout the city. Historic Downtown Harrison includes dining and unique shopping opportunities, and includes Harrison Home Bakery, a local tradition for over 100 years. On Wednesdays, a short drive up US 52 brings residents of Harrison Township to White’s Farm, a “destination” site of one of the tri-state’s most unique and comprehensive flea markets, and home of the weekly “miscellaneous sale” at 11:00 AM. At 1:00 PM, one of the few remaining livestock auctions, conducted by the fourth generation White family auctioneer features livestock of all varieties. Or one may prefer to drive along I-74 toward Cincinnati and enjoy its many shopping and dining opportunities.

Recreation

Miami Whitewater Forest has over nine miles of pave trails and six miles of nature trails. An 18-hole golf course if available along with playgrounds and soccer fields. Its 85- acre lake is available for fishing and boating. The River City Sports Complex offers softball leagues. Along with the golf course at Miami Whitewater Forrest, Grand Oaks and Rolling Hills offer the golf enthusiast ample opportunities. History buffs may visit the home of Ohio’s Governor Onethial Looker. Governor Bebb Park is a quaint preserve just across the line in Butler County. And, for the water sports fan, Brookville Lake is a short drive in the country.
