The winding lanes with Georgian and colonial style houses create an atmosphere of an old English village.
Homes have quaint mullioned windowpanes. Municipal, commercial and community buildings are in Tudor or English Gothic design, with timbered rafters within. But the charm of Mariemont is more than a matter of architecture. There is great community pride in this complete little world of cultural and social activities including its school system. A variety of housing is offered, including single and two-family homes. Townhouses and apartments also have an old-fashioned English flavor. To people who value tradition, Mariemont is a dream come true. The village was carefully planned to include shopping, banking, and all the other essentials of life... right in the center of town.
Mariemont has several bus lines to downtown Cincinnati. A rush hour bus makes it in 20 minutes as does a Milford express bus. A third takes a little longer through several Cincinnati suburbs, affording transfers to other parts of town. Driving time to downtown Cincinnati is 20 minutes. There is easy access to I-71, I-275, I-75 and the Ronald Reagan Highway.
Many doctors offices are located along Red Bank Road in nearby Madisonville. "Medpace", a research-based drug and medical device company is located at the corner of Madison and Red Bank Roads. Mariemont is a 15-minute drive to "Jewish Hospital Kenwood" which is located on Kenwood Road in Sycamore Township. This hospital features a state-of-the-art patient tower as well as a 24-hour emergency department. It is the region’s only adult Blood & Marrow Transplant Center. "Bethesda North Hospital", a Level One Trauma Center, is located in the adjoining Montgomery area and is a short 20-minute drive away.
Other Cincinnati area hospitals, such as The Christ Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, University Hospital (known for its advanced medical research) and the Children’s Hospital Medical Center are located within a 20-minute drive.
Mariemont has a wide variety of specialty shops within easy walking distance to any home in the village. The Kenwood Towne Centre is about 10 minutes away and feature 3 department stores, some 100 shops, services and restaurants. Hyde Park Square and Rookwood Pavilion are also a 10 minute drive.
Mariemont has a garden club, tennis courts and a swim club open to all residents. There is a summer play school for pre-schoolers and a supervised playground for school-age children, teaching them games and handicraft. Free swimming lessons are given and swim teams are organized to compete in meets throughout the summer. The Mariemont Swim Club, consisting of a regular pool, one for swimming lengths and kiddie pool, is unique in that any resident of Mariemont is automatically a member by paying a nominal yearly fee. T-ball, Knothole, and other baseball teams are offered for all ages including adults. There are softball teams for girls depending on the demand. Soccer has also become very popular with teams for boys and girls. The Parish Center affords a wide selection of year-round activities, especially for youths. For the older citizens of Mariemont, The Marielders Center is open each weekday from 9 to 5.
