Along the Ohio River at a scenic bend is Lawrenceburg, the county seat for Dearborn County. The city was founded in 1802 and now has 5,000 residents.
The rich heritage of steamboat shipping led to the development of the city's famous Gamblers' Row, which now is further enhanced as the home port of Hollywood Casino and Hotel. As the world's most popular riverboat drawing nearly 8 million visitors a year, it has helped add to the city's newest nickname-"Casino City".
Lawrenceburg is a short 25 miles from the heart of Cincinnati for those who prefer a more rural life while still working in the city. A 20-minute drive via Interstate 275 will get you to the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport or downtown via Interstate 74.
Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg serves the county's medical needs. Mercy Health - Medical Center Emergency Department is located in nearby Harrison, Ohio. Cincinnati Children’s Green Township Urgent Care is also located in Harrison, Ohio.
Just off the interstate is the hub of Lawrenceburg's commercial shopping district with enough stores to meet every need. Specialty and antique stores are in the downtown area. For those who enjoy antiquing, the Tri-State Antique Market is held the first Sunday from May through October at the Lawrenceburg Indiana Fairgrounds.
Nestled in a scenic river valley outdoor life is active here with the opportunity to hike, bicycle or drive to explore the breathtaking hills and valleys. The Ohio River provides access via numerous deep water marinas and fishing recreation. Perfect North Slopes is the area's only ski resort providing ski runs throughout the season. For those who enjoy ice skating the city's rink is open seasonally. Golfers will find a number of courses in the area, including two in Lawrenceburg. The Lawrenceburg Speedway has hosted races since 1950 and is open April through October.
The Lawrenceburg Event Center has a gym, basketball court, computer lab and game room.
For those who enjoy gambling, the Hollywood Casino has many games of chance and Boogie Nights is their dance club for those who enjoy music from the '70s and '80s. Live concerts are held on the rooftop. The casino features six restaurants to enjoy.
Lawrenceburg hosts several community events throughout the year including Music on the River, Party in the Street, Winter Wonderland, and a Whiskey City Festival. The Dearborn County Fair takes place every summers at the Lawrenceburg, Indiana Fairgrounds.
The city has many parks to enjoy. Some have play equipment, skating board tracks, picnic areas and more. The Dearborn Trails are great places to hike or bike. Enjoy a paved path that follows the Ohio River. Versailles State Park is only a short drive to the west and offers camping and hiking.
