About Sycamore Township
Until well into the mid-20th century, Sycamore Township’s fertile hills and valleys and thick forests served primarily as an agricultural area. The expansive growth following World War II triggered the building explosion that continues yet today near Kenwood and the northern section of the township. There are currently over 20,000 residents and 1,375 businesses in the area.
Sycamore Township is seven square miles with all the advantages of central suburban living. The township is composed primarily of a series of suburban communities of attractive houses on neatly landscaped lots. Homes vary in price and style, with a nice blend of residential neighborhoods. The northern section of the township is home to many company’s national and international headquarters with the accompanying shopping and office expansions.
The Queen City Metro bus line serves Sycamore Township. Situated between the three major highways of I-275, I-75 and I-71 and bisected by the Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway, Sycamore Township has easy access to downtown, museums, the arts, major sporting events, theme parks and more. Downtown Cincinnati is a convenient driving time of 15 minutes; the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport is within a 30-minute drive.
There are several hospitals serving the Sycamore Township area. Jewish Hospital Kenwood is conveniently located on Kenwood Road in the heart of the township. Bethesda North Hospital, a Level One Trauma Center, is in the adjoining Montgomery area. The Sycamore Township EMS and Fire Department provide 24-hour service to the township. Other Cincinnati area hospitals, such as The Christ Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, University Hospital and the Children’s Hospital Medical Center are located within a 20-minute drive.
The Kenwood Towne Centre offers over 1,000,000 square feet of shopping pleasure including 95 specialty stores, three large department stores and various restaurants, making this one of the larger shopping facilities in the State of Ohio. The township is also home to Sycamore Plaza and The Galleria, which offer a wide array of shopping and dining sites.
The parks and recreation of Sycamore Township are a strong focal point in the community. With area sports, shelters, ball fields, nature trails and play areas eight parks span the township offering a variety of park facilities to everyone. Bechtold Park and Lodge houses the annual summer Festival in Sycamore showcasing nationally known entertainers. Township residents also enjoy annual outdoor Twilight concerts.
