Community Information



Founded in 18380, Dillsboro was named for General James Dill, clerk of the Circuit Court at the time. Dill was also a soldier in the War of 1812, the first Recorder, Clerk of the Circuit Court and a member of the 1816 Indiana Constitutional Convention.


Dillsboro is a classic example of small town Indiana life. At just over a 1.25 square miles, Dillsboro is about a 45-minute drive from Cincinnati. Dillsboro residents find their town offers the best of rural living with access to the services of a larger metropolitan area, close to shopping, businesses, and interstate access. Surrounded by Dearborn County’s acres of farmland and eclectic mix of home styles, just 1,450 residents call Dillsboro home.


Dillsboro is 33 miles west of Cincinnati on US. Rt. 50 and Indiana 62. The Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is just 11 miles from Dearborn County via Interstate 275. Interstate 74, just a few minutes outside of DIllsboro, connects Indianapolis with Cincinnati.


Volunteer ambulance and fire services provide EMS coverage for the village. Nearby Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg serves the region’s medical needs. Hospitals in Cincinnati are a half hour drive away


Most residents hop in the car for any extensive shopping in either Versailles or Lawrenceburg. Only thirty minutes away, nearby Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky add even more entertainment, dining and retail options.


Like most small Indiana towns, Dillsboro’s charm is in its rural simplicity allowing residents time to enjoy life and home activities. Hunting, biking and camping can be found at several nearby state parks offering outdoor access.
